Aer Lingus Fleet/Routes Discussion

The seat map for the B767-200 being leased by EI next year are available on the Aer Lingus website, the seating is 2,3,2 in economy (As was suspected) and 2,2,2 in business

There are 189 economy seats and 12 Business seats making a total of the reported 201 seats.

Anyone know whether the B767 will be repainted, partially or entirely, in the EI colours for the 6 months that its leased for?

EI already has eticketing and interlining with Alaska, and since Alaska bought Virgin America they are now the West Coast version of JetBlue really

And Seattle it is. Great news for all of us working for Seattle / Washington hq’d companies (Amazon, Microsoft, Expedia etc and indirectly Boeing - leasing companies). Lovely part of the US too so huge tourist potential.

I won’t miss the BA LHR flights that’s for sure!

Well done Aer Lingus .....ballsy move SEA route as against the top up of other routes. I think this a serious watershed and hope they strike gold on this route. Can’t wait to visit Seattle and it’s surrounds. A beautiful part of the world and if your even bolder Alaska and it’s surrounds is just a quick connection.

It’s purely talk, I said it was Seattle and an ex Air Berlin 330 and from there it went to naming airlines with similar engine types as Aer Lingus.

Interesting change of flight number choice, all Aer Lingus mainline flights use three digit numbers (apart from the Belfast base) but this new Seattle service breaks tradition with EI99 and EI98 instead of the usual transatlantic flight number.

I wonder are there many EI1xx flight numbers left? I'd imagine most are in use or have been used and they don't want to recycle.

EI102/103 was the daytime JFK/DUB on the 757, not currently in use.

EI112/113 was JFK/SNN
EI114/115 will be DUB/PHL
EI116/117 was BOS/SNN
EI118/119 was BWI/SNN, now DUB/IAD
EI126/127 was a third DUB/ORD rotation
EI132/133 was a third BOS/DUB

EI142/143 seem the be the only free ones? Anyone remember what Dubai was?

Oops! Completely forgot about EWR, and PHL!
I included 102/103 as I’m guessing it will return with the A321LRs.
I can’t recall the 3rd rotation from Dublin to either BOS or DUB.
Didn’t realize SNN had also used 113/112 and 117/116, I thought those routes were only ever 111/110 and 135/134 respectively.

It looks like 111/110/135/134 were actually DUB-SNN-USA routes pre Open Skies, I only read the tail end of the routing

Actually it’s not a break at all.

EI 98/99 was used for the Belfast-Shannon-New York service from way back!

That was 6963/6962 I think

143/142 was SNN-LAX
107/106 was the original EWR number

All the 09x flights were DUB-SNN-DUB as far as I remember

Well Garrett Fitzgerald’s flight number sequencing (it was he that came up with it) certainly has stood the test of time!

Has the CEO announced any other a330 for the Aer Lingus fleet apart from the one which was meant to arrive this month? With 12 a330 and 4 757 only how is the fleet enough for this new route remembering that one a330 will be flying IAD 4x weekly?

There will be another aircraft joining. He implied the deal will be wrapped up in a few weeks.

Nothing has been confirmed.

From a few posts I’ve seen, people seem to think this is a Ballsy move or punt by EI. I can’t imagine them taking a punt, they strike me as very conservative, if launching this route 4x week, I would guess they know the demand is there.
