I like to go to the lake and park on the launch ramp at dusk and enjoy the sunset and stars

Is there anywhere in Dublin where you can park and watch the sunset at the beach or overlooking the city

Eh . . . Definitely not

Just think of sitting in a sand dune watching the sunset, spots like that

I don't know really of any in Dublin
The golf club in Howth would be a great spot but I'm not a member and doubt I'll ever be.

Because it's winter it really has to be somewhere you can drive to

Problem is always people keep their secret spots just that a secret

You can still drive up the grounds and have a potter about.

If you are into Howth, try Howth Head, drive up, park your car, go for a stroll, pick your spot to sit down.
Plus, as noted earlier, there is probably some doggin going on as well that you can get in on.
