Also, remember LON-NYC is a massive market, much bigger than IRL-NYC, giving room for such flights.

The last A320 came from Aeroflot so I don't think they're too concerned about investor/alliance sourcing.

I would imagine most guys who have A330 on their licence would already have it with more than one engine type but even if they don't, a two or three days Engine Differences course plus a couple of days practical training would hardly be a deal breaker...

JCX BXC wrote: » Why should they be? It's a commonly done thing, businesses are out to make money! These leases are only temporary, why would an airline invest in a maintenance team for just one aircraft that could be gone in a few years?

Pilot sim dates have already been arranged and this years new cabin crew will being trained up on A330 ops on their return in the spring. Also to point out, 75% of the 757 pilots are Aer Lingus pilots on secondment to ASL, and 100% of the Cabin Crew are Aer Lingus. You’d have a very tough time convincing unions to allow and external company to operate a long term lease on an A330, the pilots union in particular would be quite militant about it.

Perhaps EI were lukewarm about it from the start?
