Christmas decorations on November 9

My mothers Neighbours are a very young couple with 3 children under the age of 4.
As I was leaving the road tonight I couldn’t help but notice that they had all their Christmas decorations up including a huge tree and 5 stockings hanging from the mantelpiece.
As the oldest child is still too young to have any concept that it’s approaching the festive season then I can only conclude that the parents were very anxious themselves to put the tree up.
Will the kids not be completely “over” Christmas by the time it actually does arrive in 7 weeks?
I have my own tree up for around a fortnight in total putting it up around 15/16 December and taking it down on New Years Day.
What do you guys think?

One local shop had a Christmas tree in their window the week before Halloween.

there are 12 days of Christmas, starting Christmas eve ending small Christmas day 6th Jan, I put mine up around 15th Dec, and down on the 6th, just because those I live with like it that way, and they are done and dusted before the fun begins

Prefer a real tree so that limits it. Goes up around the 20th, down on the 6th. Holly and ivy on the 22nd.

Might have a few bits like advent calendars and that up before, and fairylights are a year round thing.

We have a golden rule in our house ......... we put our Christmas Tree/Decorations up whenever the the f*ck we want and we don't give a sh*t when Xmas starts/ends for other people in their own homes ......... works for us!

I keep internal winter lights (Not the tree or anything specifically referencing Christmas) around the house until Feb. Otherwise jan 7th is bleak.

One of my neighbours has had their decorations (including outdoor lights) up since at least Tuesday. At first I thought the lights were up for some other reason, but no, there is a Christmas tree in their front room. The lights are red and green though (as opposed to blue, which has become inexplicably popular in recent years), so at least they have some taste.

I won't be putting any up because bah, humbug.

I think it really depends on the child. I was always obsessed with the magic of Christmas/decorations but the presents never did much for me!

Back in the day I would have kept the decorations up all year round. I absolutely loved them. My mam went all out with Santy figures and musical houses and gaudy tinsel everywhere. I can still smell the tree. The fire lighting and daddy untangling the lights while mammy gave instructions

Sure if people want to put their decorations up in September what harm.

When I was a kid, the decorations went up around the 18th Dec, down on the 7th January. In recent years they have gone up about the 12th-15th and down the first couple of days of January. That will probably change a little now that I have a kid, but he's too young now to know anything. They certainly won't be up for more than 4 weeks though, that's madness.

I don't like Christmas and all decorations look cheap and nasty to me. People who normally wouldn't dream of mismatched cushions on their sofa blast every space in the house with gaudy tinsel, multi coloured lights and plastic figures. It has nothing to do with the religious aspect of the season, if that's their thing and I love when they get put away again.

I enjoy Christmas and I look forward to it. But the tree goes up in the middle of December and down at first opportunity after 1st of January. Sometimes I wonder if not much else is going on in people's lives if Christmas is given such prominence for such a long part of the year.

Christmas, Easter, birthdays, communion/confirmation, Halloween.Bouncy castles and lavish cakes. A great big bag of cans in the garden.
The bits in between mean nothing.

There's a house around the corner from me and every year without fail their decorations go up on November 1st. I'd be sick of looking at them long before Xmas if it was my house.
