Christmas decorations on November 9

My mothers Neighbours are a very young couple with 3 children under the age of 4.
As I was leaving the road tonight I couldn’t help but notice that they had all their Christmas decorations up including a huge tree and 5 stockings hanging from the mantelpiece.
As the oldest child is still too young to have any concept that it’s approaching the festive season then I can only conclude that the parents were very anxious themselves to put the tree up.
Will the kids not be completely “over” Christmas by the time it actually does arrive in 7 weeks?
I have my own tree up for around a fortnight in total putting it up around 15/16 December and taking it down on New Years Day.
What do you guys think?

If you entertain the idea of taking Christmas decorations down at all, then you are not really invested in the spirit of Christmas. Having to put them up at all, rather than just add new ones, makes you a bit of a grinch I think.

I like Christmas and I have no issue with Christmas decorations being out early etc. I wouldn't put decorations at home this early mainly because they get tired/dusty looking.
We generally put them up from about the 8th of December and take them down after the 6th of January. I never really understand why people take down their decorations before the 6th of January.
As a child I was obsessed with Christmas and never got tired of it so if I was growing up in that house I'd have being happy.

Some people have bought into the whole Xmas marketing thing which starts earlier each year.

Far too early at this stage to be putting Christmas decorations up you should wait until at least the 1st week of December before you start getting out the decorations and Christmas tree.

You'd want to have the decorations up the 2nd week of August and take them down around mid June otherwise you are a complete weirdo.

Why bother taking them down at all in January? Just leave them up all year.

I do think though the "magic" of Christmas is being undermined and chipped away with because of commercialism, people putting up decorations early and countless Christmas parties.

There should be an unwritten rule. Wherever you live, when the local street lights are officially lit, then that's the cue to start decorating.

Here in Cork it's on the 19th November for example. Seems about right for putting up decorations.

I think putting up decorations this early ruins it a bit. Christmas is special because its only once a year..we put ours up the 12th and put it down the 6th. Its still a long time But I think hving the trees up for 1/6th of the year would make it a lot less special for me

I used to put it up the evening of the Toy show, a thing with the family for years. My wife comes along from Argentina, never experienced Christmas like this before, and she's in love with it. So now the tree goes up when the Grafton St lights go on
