Just restoring from my backup now and first impressions are that it's gorgeous. The sides are alike a dark chrome finish. Screen is crisp and bright. Blacks are very black. It is heavy though - feels a fair bit heavier than the 7, but more balanced - my 7 always seemed to be very bottom heavy. It's very snappy too - even running iOS 11.0.1. Best iPhone so far.

Supply is definitely better than originally expected then. A premium reseller in a small country would be pretty low on Apple’s priority list so them having decent stock on launch days means something.

Did they say if it was a good mix of configurations?

DHL text you to tell you it's due for delivery today / tomorrow but they don't give you a time.

I preordered on Friday but was one of the unlucky ones who didn’t get on until 8.10. So I chanced my arm with iConnect Henry street. Managed to grab a 64GB Silver. I wanted the black but since the front is the same and I have a case I didn’t mind too much.

They had roughly 40 altogether according to the manager. Happy to get a launch day model. Got there less than an hour before opening. The whole process was pretty slow though but just glad to finally have an X

God Damm total assh*** in UPS, they should yesterday that it would deliver today, but i got a mail this morning saying my address was incomplete, DHL had no issue with the address for my wife phone. i rang and they say Mullingar does not exist!!! and are sending the phone back!!! its in the depot in dublin at the min, anyone got a number by any chance??

If anyone is having issues with reachability on 11.1, you need to turn it on:

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > General > Accessibility and turn Reachability on.

Step 2: Swipe down from the gesture bar in any open app or the bottom of iPhone X's home page.

Step 3: Perform the desired UI operation.

Step 4: To reinstate the fullscreen UI, swipe up from the gesture bar or bottom of the home screen. Alternatively, touch an area outside of the active UI pane.

Apologies if this has been asking before, i was following the 8 and now ive decided i might go for the x.
Can you buy the phone unlocked in America? Ive been on apple.com and dont see it...maybe it takes a while for the unlocked version to go on sale?! Anyone know. My sister is going in two weeks so was thinking of getting her to pick it up, looks like i could save a couple of hundred possibly.

Yeah as long was UI design takes it into account I think it’s a non issue, especially in portrait mode.

The question is how long will third party developers take to adapt their UI.

Still waiting for DHL to deliver. Phoned up and they said they normally deliver between 10:00-13:00 to my area. Hope thats true as I have to leave for the airport at 14:00

I got through to a call centre in the Philippines when I rang that number - did you get chatting someone in Dublin?

This bears out what I said - DHL and the rest are far better performers than UPS. I'm surprised Apple cut corners by using the worst courier around. Perhaps they are better in the US and so on, but they are rubbish in Ireland.

it's subjective. I never had issues with DHL.

Contact Apple directly and report and issue you are having with DHL. Let Apple sort it. Experience with UK Mail and Apple and they sorted everything much quicker
