Had to laugh at the amount of people backing Mayweather ''because Conor is a scumbag''. Aside from the showmanship, Mayweather is literally a woman bashing scrotebag.

I did challenge the point...

I called it a logic fail. Which it is. Quite clearly.

Now whether he is a racist misogynist or not - I don't know. I'd say he's more likely a case of being a bit dim rather than being malevolent. But the 'point' made was bollocks.

It's more the fact that it's done for the audience or the person's followers who all think the same way anyway. You can spot an internet post seeking back-clapping and high-fives a mile away. Being good at punching or kicking doesn't preclude racism, misogyny or homophobia.

I can understand some people not liking McGregor, but I do think the reaction to this is a little OTT. Different swear words can lose meaning to some people over time.

Take the term b*stard for example. A lot of people use this on a daily basis as a disparaging term, but they are not questioning the parentage of the person it's aimed at. It has a generic insult / swear word. I have heard quite a few people use the F word regularly, particularly Dubs from working class backgrounds, who treat LGBT people well in every other way. Some may take offense, but it's very clear it wasn't intentional by how live their lives otherwise.

Maybe he did mean it in the context it was taken. I dont think he did personally.

FFS. Its a word thats used a lot from childhood, not meaning "gay". I wouldn't use it and Conor shouldn't either but no biggie. Tensions were high at the time.

He didn't merely trot out a line, he actively encouraged people to vote YES when he could've said nothing at all. If he truly is homophobic or hates gay people, why would he do that? So much easier to keep silent on the issue, especially in the macho world of MMA.

He was a couple of days away from fighting Aldo when he said this at a media day to promote his UFC 189 main event against Jose Aldo. "We all deserve equal rights. We're all human here at the end of the day -- regardless of color, gender, sexuality. Any of that. It's all meaningless. We all deserve the same rights. It just feels right to me."

I don't think he'd be doing business with people of colour if he was a true racist. I don't think he'd be actively encouraging people to vote yes for equality if he was a true homophobe. He makes daft comments. He makes crass comments. He's not always tasteful. However, it's refreshing that people can be a little rough around the edges and be themselves from time to time in a world of pre-scripted, cliche-laden soundbite-heavy interviews.

Beating up women didn't stop Floyd Mayweather getting to the top of his sport.
McGregor didn't fight him for the craic, he did it for the money.
