Surely extra time should have been played when M/Boher drew with Garryspillane last Sunday rather than dragging them both back to G/Grounds for a replay under lights last Wednesday night.

washman3 wrote: » Ya definitely, getting promoted to senior is the main aim. I was just making the point that these players were now playing 3 games in a week in October and spent 3 MONTHS twiddling their thumbs during the summer. I cant speak for Kilmaley but I can bet that Murroe/Boher will be odds-on to be relegated back intermediate again next year in Limerick.
Clareman wrote: » Don't get me started on this, a simple solution would be to play the championship during the summer, if a team has a lot of county players then that's unlucky, if anything it would even out the championship and might find more inter county players. If I was made lord of the GAA I would have every Wednesday as "club night" so that inter county players train/turn up at their club and there be at least 1 round of the championship played in May, June, July and August, that would be 4 rounds played (at least) so come September everything could be played off. If a player/club wants to be dual then so be it but they need to be aware of the calendar.

So a club who puts in savage structures and work at underage level and is lucky enough to see some of it's youngsters get onto intercounty teams gets punished - I don't think so. Nobody disagrees that the club player is being blackguarded at present but that's hardly the answer.
Clareman wrote: » Check out the rugby, if a club has a lot of internationals then they don't get them for a lot of the season. Most club managers will agree that they never know when/if they'll have their intercounty players available, wrapping them in cotton wool isn't the solution either. Have set club weekends throughout the summer, for example in Clare it could be weekends 1 and 3 in May for hurling, 2 and 4 for football, this means that Clare intercounty hurling can be played in either weekend 1 or 3, football in week 2 or 4. Yes, players might get injured and they might be playing a lot of games in a couple of months but they could get injured in a car accident and there wouldn't be any extra games played. Also, no replays except for finals or relegation

Nicknamed the Duck, Honan was outstanding in his early years with his performance with Clare U21's in 2009 and especially against Galway in the All-Ireland U21 semi-final where he was absolutely outstanding in that same year. However injury plighted his career and while he did play a key role in Clare's All-Ireland glory in 2013, it has been a struggle since then for the Clonlara clubman. Best of luck on your inter-county retirement Darach!

A last gasp point from Midleton CBS seals a 2-17 to 2-16 over the Ennis school to book a place in the final in the competition where the Cork school will take on Thurles CBS. Flannans showed tremendous heart and courage and as a collective group from both players and management, they should take great pride in what was an enthralling encounter in Ballyagran today. Commiserations to one and all. Best of luck to Midleton CBS in the final though.
