'Scuse me if I'm breaking any rules of Weather here with another thread, but didn't want to derail the main thread with too much chatter.

Guessing a lot of people (particularly us mostly-lurkers) might be in the same boat as me - not really sure what this all means on the ground in terms of preparation - and even if it's not too awful, I for one would prefer to be over-prepared rather than under-prepared! (At the moment, I don't feel that prepared at all!)

I'm living in a pretty exposed place for this particular set of indicators (on a narrow, south-west jutting peninsula off the Galway coast) and thus somewhat nervous about it. We're moving the bedroom to the sitting room as I've always been a bit dubious about the tall trees on that side of the house, but apart from that, sheltering the car (somehow) and ensuring there's as little potential debris as possible, I'm a bit at a loss. Water, candles might be an idea to get in.

Any more experienced people have ideas? Or what are others in the firing line doing?

Madness. Our cat is locked in the garage with food, water, litter tray and her bed. Wanted to keep her in the house but she was freaking out.

If we didn't have an 8 week old to prioritise she would be still in the house but the garage is a modern one only built a few years so she is safe and dry.

Only one still standing on my team who are working from home today in and around cork city and subs.

Every part of the city expect mine has power issues and I don't understand as I am top of the hill !!!

Very lucky that I still have power, Wilton, cork. Don't think k it's going to go at this point. Bisbopstown gone ballincollgig gone, some of dennehys cross and Greenmount etc. Was pretty severe for a while. Plenty of tree branches after snapping into.my garden though!

It's been pretty bad in Cork, sounds like a lot of damage, and they've got about another two hours of high wind. Over 100,000 without power already. Also sounds like it was rough in Kerry, but there's less reports so far. Waterford is getting hit fairly strongly at the moment, along with Tipp, south Kilkenny. Dublin and Galway seem to be feeling the outer gusts currently.

Where are you? Power out in Waterville but I wouldnt describe it as the worst weather we've had. No doubt it will get worse later on. Lots of short bursts of wind and then nothing for a few seconds.

Still absolutely treacherous here in Cork. Had to tape my letterbox down because I thought it was gonna blow off.

I live on a main road and the amount of cars passing on a minutely basis is absolutely mind boggling.
Nowhere near as busy as it normally is but still has cars regularly passing through.
I've seen pics of many fallen trees in the vicinity and debris everywhere.
