am holding tough as hoping for 4.25e/kg

Not far off that figure Bass TG. 925 ave. Lmxfr 29mts. A calf that tried to die harder than live. Hex last NOV and rest June 16. The six contenintals last of boss man's cattle. Year dead this wk. That yr flew.

so avg factory price of 1586?? so about 660... so made about 50% of that as profit, after costs etc

They got a grain of meal last winter and on finishing meal starting at 2kg for last 7 weeks and slowly upped to 4kg so didn't cost a fortune other than keeping fresh paddocks in front of them. Around that gross margin id say. I'd lose a day (and probably the will to live) at the real job if I wanted to calculate the net figure.

He must. Couldn't believe what he killed out. Very shapely animal but never thought him to be over big compared to some of them. Ounce of breeding worth a tonne of feeding sure!

sorry to side track the thread a bit but i bought a bullock today. Ill be the 4th movement . does that mean the factory will be the fifth when he goes. Is it harder get the likes of him killed. Its a long story how I ended up with him, mix up in the mart .I kept him anyway

Not sure bout the movement part - you wont get QA but will prob depend on factory demand otherwise. I wonder did the auctioneer land him on you after puffing him up and then left with no buyer?

Ya I'm guessing I won't get QA but he was not that dear if he lives at all he will leave money..lol

No there was a mix up with cards an mart numbers.

If you are the 4th owner you will get QA. These are the cattle you make money on as the dealers cannot push them on. As the young fellas says watch the board, when it says 3 they are gambling not you.

Mind you he is on Bondi Beach at the moment.

I said at the price he was worth the risk.oh right would be great if i could get QA on him so. He was bloody cheap. The wrong details were put up on the board in the mart and hardly anyone bid for him. Turned out he was 6 months younger than what was on the board. No dealer even bid for him as you say

Factory doesn't count as a movement as it's a slaughter/factory number, not a herd number.
I've seen it happen before, owner could have two animals ending with the same 3 large digits & brings wrong card. Person on chute reads the big numbers for handiness sake and wrong card goes in on system. Sometimes only came to light when the animal was in the factory line :mad:

As a beef farmer, I think the Mercosur deal should be done. And we can be all put out of our misery. And then go off and rear dairy bull calves.
