I'm still hoping that George gets back on air, but if worse comes to worst, just to put a rocket up the asses of the hacks from the Irish Times and the Journal.i.e, how about giving the slot to John Waters, that would cause Twitter to meltdown. Fintan O'Toole would have a breakdown. John would last about 6 months before been hounded out of it, but wouldn't it be 6 glorious months.

John Waters gave a fascinating talk awhile back called 'End of Debate' . You can find it on You Tube if your interested. Whatever you think of John, you'd have to respect him for sticking his neck out and a bit like George he got hung out to dry, I would pay good money to see John debate some of the so called intellects like Fintan O'Toole, Una Mullally, Collette Browne. Box office baby.
In fairness Fintan would give him a good run for his money, but Una and Collette would be destroyed.

I remember him been on a LLS election debate in 2007(I think) with Eoghan Harris and Dunphy. He was terrible.

But there's a pattern emerging over the last few years. All of the journalists with conservative (or so called right wing) views are being hounded out of the profession. John Waters is gone, Kevin Myers is gone, now Hook is gone. The same people that waited for an opportunity to silence Hook, will probably do the same to Ian O'Doherty and anybody else who says anything that does not subscribe to the liberal agenda. I'd urge people to have a look at his 'end of debate' talk. You tube John Waters (journalists) you'll find it there. He is pretty scating of the hacks at the Irish Times and the media in general.

The difference between waters and all the other examples is a chimpanzee can write with more coherance than john waters.

Seriously, she has a one hour show tucked away in the evening schedule on a Saturday when no one listens to the radio. You're really exaggerating her influence here.

If someone on the prime radio slot rebukes her arguments suddenly she has a lot bigger reach than she has with her show. Once you start talking about every fringe opinion you give it more credence than it deserves.

Plenty of single issue victim lobbyists would be quite conservative in their views too.

It's not the sole provision of "the left" and it's a sorry attempt at argument when one sees it reduced as such.

Also, the reality of the Hook situation is thus. Hook made a living shooting his mouth off and finally one of the rounds has gone off in his face. It's practically inevitable when one makes a living spouting shite across the airwaves or in print, that eventually you'll make an ass of yourself, which is essentially what Hook has done here.

But, the vultures circling his corpse aren't "left wing". They are merely opportunists waiting to see what scraps they can rip from the body. It's people (journos mainly) and organisations (like Safe Ireland) who wish to make some capital out of a story that doesn't really deserve the amount of oxygen its received.

There isn't anything "left wing" about it.

Why cant we go back to the good old days where you can point out the common sense that women because of their biology can be good broadcasters, that women are in some way responsible for being raped, and that Jews are great at minding their money. Nobody listens to Dil for Gods sake...its marooned in a backwater in the schedule and lets face it its targeted at minority audiences in the first place.By the way many so called liberals (who knows what that means anymore given our propensity to ape the dysfunctional American charade that passes for debate)were defensive of both Hook and Myers and argued in their favour ...seems good(bad) old capitalism won through ...the irony of it.

Dr Ciara's personality is really coming to the fore now that she seems to have grabbed the hot seat for herself..
Maybe I'm being over sensitive, but there's a smugness there that I can't abide, which wasn't so prominent when she was filling in.

High Noon with Ciara Kelly is utterly boring, bland radio that goes in ear and out the other. I may not have agreed with the majority of what Hook used to come out with but at least he made for entertaining radio. I'll be changing stations from tomorrow during this slot.
