Just a reminder to all that Clonmel parkrun is every Saturday at 9.30am at Powerstown Racecourse. We would love to see more families, walkers, joggers and of course runners participate. If you don't want to complete the 5km, please volunteer and get involved in a community project.

I met Dr Sean Fitzpatrick, he's a pleasant young man, I could feel a hint of anxiousness about him as I brought up a health condition that is not very common and difficult to diagnose, it can't be easy starting off with patients who are generally older than you, but he was professional and conscientious so he has my trust.

* By good, I mean a dentist with a modern practice, good patient manner, who won't invent work that needs to be done and also stamps health insurance forms.

I use Gerry Kaar on the Western Road. Fantastic manner and has never pushed extra work on me.

I use Daniel o'connell myself. Find him excellent and sound to boot. Doesnt open weekends is the only thing but is open til 5.30 in the evenings

Yep, so far all I've seen is on FB is 3 different Councillors take credit for it and all sharing the link with little to no solid detail other than there's early talks happening soon.

For all we know they begged someone to come have a look at the arms and see if they're interested.

120 bedrooms and no parking, hard to see that happening in a town centre with less than adequate public transport links but what it does have going for it is the close proximity to the river walkway, Bulmers new Dowds lane project could be a big draw to Clonmel too. I'm guessing they're saying 120 bedrooms because either they need that many for the hotel to operate viably or when they go for pp if they're told it's too big they'll get 80 or 100. Does anyone know how many bedrooms it had before?

I remember about 10 years ago hearing of plans for a multi storey car park there with hotel overhead.

Parking definitely going to be a problem.
With the tourists initiatives lined up I hope there quick to get the planning and work done on the hotel.

Couple of issues come to mind - parking and also there is sure to be objections from certain business folk in town.

Will be interesting to see if the modular unit for the hospital is completed next year

Town itself doesn't need any more parking but the hotel certainly would. Positive news though hopefully comes to fruition. I see quigleys cafe coming along nicely too.

I have seen it mentioned the odd time here that Clonmel needs more parking. However whenever I've visited the town even when it was busy enough. We've never had an issue getting a space!

Absolutely there's plenty of parking it's just people aren't prepared to walk 5 miNs extra. Suirside suir island and the old superquinn car park are rarely full at weekends. Suirside during the week is usually full however.

Those of us who are familiar with Clonmel will know where to find a parking space but if you're travelling from somewhere else to a town you don't know, you want to park in a car park attached to the hotel. I can only imagine what the trip advisor reviews would say if people had to park in suir island. With the slope down from the street towards the river it's surely possible to integrate parking. But 120 bedrooms they must be planning on adding a few floors and making a landmark building like the Clarion in Limerick (it used to be the Clarion maybe it changed since) and a high rise hotel in Athlone town centre that I can't think of the name of, maybe the Sheraton?

Local politicians jumping on the Clonmel Arms bandwagon to try and deflect us from the fact that the voted in favour of a 10 per cent rise on the Local property tax for Tipperary..fooling no one.

Clonmel arms planning process needs to be fast tracked. The last time too many ridiculous objections went in and held up the original development. Hopefully there will be a move on attracting new tenants to Market place and the cinema extension finally starts. There are small signs of life finally returning to the town centre but while this is happening I can't believe the council have extended parking charges in Irishtown and Davis road. Have they seriously no cop on. They talk about attracting new shops in and on the other hand extend the parking charges areas, which will keep people shopping on the outskirts.

Pretty much, o keefes now charge a fiver at the door so it's once in a blue moon I dart in the door. Bakers bar is also a late bar but is owned by the same crowd so they pretty much have a monopoly on the town.
Why the owner of Dannos doesn't rebrand it/sell the place I dont, lot of potential just sitting there wasted.
