i have just moved into an area where there is an Aldi, i am not really familiar with the store, what do you recommend of their products.

The Aldi Red / Green Thai Curry packs are very tasty for €1.99. You get individual sachets of curry paste, coconut milk and spices in each.

They also are doing a Katsu Curry and Goan Curry for €2.49. Had the Katsu which was very good too.

I'm here to NOT recommend the Mini Desserts for 99c.
They come in a little glass with a plastic lid and are available in Double Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Raspberry & Cream and another one I can't remember.

We got the Raspberry & Cream and the Salted Caramel ones and had them last night but we weren't impressed.
They have a weird jelly-like topping and the cinnamon biscuit at the bottom of the Raspberry one was particularly nasty.
Ugh.

Handy little glasses though.

Aldi don't do PX. They have a colheita tawny port and some trockenbeerenauslese (I think) but no PX

The Abbelby slow cooked Pork Fillet in BBQ sauce 600g is excellent, really tender pork, €4.99 is a bit steep though

The chilled creamy veg soup in the bowl thing is good. Perfect with some nice brown soda bread, also in their bread section. So easy and so filling and good. Well works for me anyway.

Just make it yourself.
One of the easiest sauces to make your self.

1 sjalot, 2 big TBS Peanut butter, 200 ml coconut milk, 1 TBS of olive oil, 2 TBS ketjap manis (Soya sauce), 1 clove garlic and 1 or 2 ts sambal (chilli paste) to taste.

Oil in a sauce pan, fry garlic and sjalot (of course chopped up very fine first) for 2 minutes
Add peanut butter and coconut milk and keep stirring till sauce thickens.
Add and stir in the ketjap and sambal
And.... better satay sauce than anything you buy.

Now if you would be able to get peanut butter from Surinam (forget about adding sambal then...)... even better but any peanutbutter will do.

I got the salted caramel puddings to have with gbbo tonight. They were nice but to be honest I thought they were more like sticky toffee pudding really. I definitely prefer the lava cakes
