So when are you to old for a computer console PS4 , x-box or whatever ?
Iv been recently thinking of buying myself a ps4 its been years since iv owned a console maybe 10 years, I'm 35 now am I to old ? I think i'm going to get one regardless but id love to know what the good folks of after hours think on the matter,
I know you can do what you like but do people stop playing as they age ?
Is there an age cut off or do the folks on here still play into there 30's and 40's and when they have kids ?

Before we get carried away here I think davo2001 has a valid point. He isn't talking about all people that play games just the ones that play games to an anti social degree.

Theres a big difference from neglecting real life to spending a few hours gaming. Its akin to someone asking whats your favourite TV show and then someone replying with they are destroying their life watching TV all day.

If someone wants to act like that, they can fund that lifestyle themselves and they're not affecting anyone else, it's their prerogative imo. Wouldn't have any interest in that lifestyle myself but if that's what makes you happy, knock yourself out.

Moderation is key of course. I'm 34 and play games, watch TV, read books, go to the pub, cycle, run, go on holidays etc.

I love games although it is hard to find the time these days. I would play maybe 7-8 hrs max per week. Don't think I'll ever give up gaming at this stage. Even if new generations of consoles are not my thing there are tons and tons of older games out there.

Gaming is such brilliant escapism from the ever day world.

A lot of older gen people have spent a lot of time coming home and plonking themselves in front of a TV for 5 hours a night. I dont see why a bone isnt picked about this. End of the day gaming is more social, challenges you more and keeps your brain healthy. Of course moderation is always needed.

Eh. I'm 44 and still game. I've always had some sort of computer since I was a nipper. I'd much prefer to play video games than watch mind numbing reality tv or talent shows that a lot of people do. I don't game for hours and hours a day but still enjoy it a lot.

I play games,more than most people here by the sounds of it. Couldnt care less what other people think of the habit,certain types of people always have and always will look down on gaming. Its like they think there hobby is somehow more valid than gaming. Each to their own i say. Other than my one week holidays a year its my main way to relax.

Ive a close group of friends ive had since childhood,see most of them every week or two. Also most of them game with me,well 3/4's of them anyway. Ive a shift work job which means ive plenty of time to myself at unsociable hours which is probably why i game so much. My girlfriend couldnt give too ****'s about me playing games either. I watch about 4/5 hrs of TV a week with her,the usual stuff,GoT's Walking Dead etc. We go to the cinema about twice a month too. Im perfectly happy at 34 years old to do this,if anyone has an issue with that its their problem not mine:)

Not really. It's like someone asking a question in the alcohol forum about a certain type of beer and someone coming along and saying "It's pathetic the problem with drink we have in this country, it destroys families".

The thread is about someone looking to get back into an interest they've lost touch with....and one of the first comments is some weird veiled grievance with adults into video games, a perfectly normal past time.

No need to try and dress it up or justify it with "in moderation".....that's true of literally everything in life, not just video games, so it's pretty bizarre rationale for an opening post which basically came out swinging at grown ups who enjoy video games.

i think the reason people are getting annoyed with that post is that its pretty much how everyone (non gamers) viewed gaming as a whole up until the last 10 years or so. Its only became properly mainstream imo since the ps3, 360 era. I remember back in the 00's telling people i liked playing games and getting the weird look + isnt that for children line the whole time, to the point where i didnt even tell people i played games. Nowadays its a lot more accepted as the same as tv/movies/books, still get some judgement when i say i play on pc every now and then though, go figure

Have several gaming consoles and a gaming pc.
Depending on the game and how much free time I have, I'd play most evenings for a few hours.

Been gaming since I got my commodore 64, still have it actually.

Surprisingly, I have a life that I manage to not neglect as well.

I'm 32 and plan on staying a gamer as long as it interests me, which is hopefully several more years.

42 and years ago was in a MOHAA clan called The Dads Army, everyone was a lot older than me. They are still playing.

I regularly play with a 65 year old, he is awful awful awful at any game with PVP but he tries

Not in a clan but merc for quite a few nowadays and I am not the oldest in any.
