this Newstalk Drive is absolute garbage,can someone please tell Sarah McInerney to stop laughing at her jokes they are simply not funny.

Moncreiff is the only show i will be listening to.. Yes i've moved the dial alright

I do agree that Sarah was rude and very aggressive at times and I personally found her difficult to listen to. However, I find it sort of amusing that some of the posters taking issue with Sarah had absolutely no issue with Vincent Browne who frequently chewed up and spat out politicians and (some) journalists who appeared on his show. Do ye remember Fiach Kelly's appearance on the show?

Anyway, at this point in time I think we really need to turn our attention to NT Breakfast - Paul Williams must go, Sarah had her faults but at least her vocabulary extended beyond 'b@stards, scum, scumbags, @ssholes' etc. There have been some mornings that I felt so embarrassed for him I felt like crawling under my desk at work. I can't imagine what it must be like to have to co-present a programme with him.

But why didn't Newstalk see that coming, Williams is an idiot whos made a lot of money and still profiting on the horrible Murder of his colleague Veronica, had that poor woman not lost her life in such horrible circumstances we would not even know Williams's name. I recon Williams will never host that show again, he's gone me thinks. Id say Miss Fitzpatrick would be still there were it for that absolute outrages dumb clown of a Williams.

In fact he was admired for doing such things and held up as someone that other journalists should take a leaf from.

While that was exactly what Sarah was trying to do she simply wasnt good at it, she was far far too aggressive in her approach, where VinB would go after them somewhat but also knew the right point to give up so it was the politician who looked stupid and not him for being so pedantic. Sarah never found that balance she always came out worse in these instances compared to the person she was interviewing.

Also one of the reasons Vincent was able to do it is due to his standing and respected position as a journalist which he built over decades. Sarah walked into the job and expected to be able to get away with the same attitude and interview style without the decades VinB had put in to be able to get away with it.

Sarah has a beautifully toned voice and is a truly stunning looking lady, that's more the reason that she should have maintained her position on NT, had she not contracted feminist swine flu she would have surpassed Ivan Yeats in a heartbeat and Cooper wouldn't have even been in contention for any portion of the #vinb slot, she became a victim of her own incoherent feminist agression, and man bashing, however she only bashed herself.

New roles for the lads announced. I'd call that a promotion for Chris, at least in terms of being considered a 'serious journalist', while I don't much fancy an 8-9 slot on a Saturday...

Communicorp Group has announced the appointment of Chris Donoghue as Group Political Editor. while Sarah McInerney will take the reins of her own weekly show on Newstalk.

Chris will oversee political outputs for all stations in the Communicorp Group, including Newstalk, Today FM, 98FM, Spin 1038 and Spin South West.

Sinead Spain, Communicorp's Group Head of News, said: “We are delighted to announce Chris as our Group Political Editor, which reaffirms our commitment to top quality news and current affairs across all stations.

"Chris brings a wealth of experience to the role and we are confident he is the right candidate to lead the political agenda for our stations and the Network News portfolio."

Chris will also present a two hour current affairs show on Newstalk from 11am each Sunday.

Sarah will take to the airwaves from 8-9am each Saturday with a newly created programme focused on current affairs and politics.

She will also provide cover across the weekday primetime schedule, including for Newstalk Breakfast.

So Sarah is cover now. Which is currently the Johnathan Healy role. Where does that leave him?

Having your own show is presumably the goal for most of these guys, but between breakfast, Pat, George and Ivan, one of them will be off most days, so she'll still be on during the week quite a lot.

She just needs to sit tight till Ivan p*sses off for a year again. Won't be long.

I think George is officially contracted for 2 years (Sep 2018).

I don't know what the point of the pre recorded 8-9 show on Saturday is.
They shoould move Down to Business back to Sunday and give Sarah the 10-12 slot on Saturday.

Healy won't be missed if he is indeed gone (doubt it!!!!). Kieran Cuddihy has proved himself time and again when he gets to fill in.

Miles better than O'Donoghue and Healy.

It took it awhile but l taught the show started to come together in the last few months. Sarah started to grow into the role. Her personality started to shine through. The more distance she put between herself and the rag she wrote for the more she became true to herself. She definitely did harangue some guests, I'd cut her some slack on that as like everyone in a new job she was probably over eager to impress, l taught her interviewing technique was more refined of late. Politically l think she is very astute.As for Chris even when he was at his most biased, he didn't piss me off that much. Never taught I'd say this but I kinda liked the show.

I really don't understand why they don't just leave Chris where he is, and team him back up with Ivan. They have wasted a lot of time, listeners and money on promoting the other shows after the shakeup when Ivan left the first time. They know that Yates and Donoghue work well together, in a sort of Laurel And Hardy sort of way. Why not just keep Donoghue where is he and bring Ivan in with him?

I dunno, I think Chris is really well suited to be the political editor. He is always very informed, and seems to actually read all the reports the Dail produces. Thought he wasn't suited to be the main anchor though.

So Sarah mac is replacing Sarah Carey.

She was a no show today for "talking point" so I reckon she walked.

As someone that used to listen to it I'm not happy as despite her record Carey actually had some decent shows pointing out media bias. Not many but more than you'd expect on newstalk.

I can only expect the usual off Sarah mac.

What baffles me though is sat is a shyte line up on rte. Carey. Was up against countrywide ffs and playback is on now so I can't see why both girls could've got a show each. Christ knows alive and kickin" ain't up to much and Kelly's on every other feckin show as it is.

Still I bet the place is tension central. Lots of unhappy campers by the looks of things.
