I disagree though, it would absolutely be that big of a shock, it would be earth shattering in sporting terms. Actual world class fighters have tried for years to put together a gameplan and beat Floyd Mayweather and 47 have come up short. If a guy wanders in from a different sport and beats him, despite age or whatever other excuse you want to make for it, it would be a massive shock. McGregor has only one chance, that perfect KO punch. That's it, he isn't the first to get in there and look for that KO punch either. If McGregor was to get in there with any legitimate top 10 right now he would be sparked pretty quick, maybe it being Mayweather will allow him to hang on a bit longer but I doubt it. Floyd will want to take all the headlines after this fight, no "great effort in defeat for the Irishman" stuff, he will want it to be humiliation, but he will be patient, he will take his time if he thinks he needs to and he will dismantle McGregor to the body first then the head.

StringerBell wrote: » Mostly it's when people make the somewhat outlandish claim that he will knock mayweather out inside a round etc with absolutely nothing yo back it up that irks some people I think. It isn't guaranteed mayweather wins but I would check outside to make sure the sky isn't falling if he doesnt. He us 40 yes, but he us not a regular 40 year old, he has been boxing training since he was able to walk and hasn't been out of shape a day in his life, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke and has 30 years boxing experience including I think 22 world title fights to fall back on if he does begin to feel it physically. I doubt he does though as he is legitimately in better shape boxing cardio wise the McGregor is so if one fighter is going to feel the pace and flag i know who i think it will be. His reactions are slightly slower, but he is not facing a man with lightning hand speed, excellent movement/footwork or a guy with a top inside game where he will have little time to react. McGregor is going to make this fight as rough as he can, and he is going to be getting punched in the gut all the while he is doing that, this will take its toll even if it appears he is having some early success, personally I doubt he has much early success anyway but still gets tagged often. His trailing hand not being in a protective spot while he throws punches could lead to him getting tagged an awful lot and probably right on the chin too which will be a serious test of his beard. Again this is something of habit and even if he remembers to keep his hand up protecting early it us very hard to not fall back into habit, into muscle memory when fighting. Mayweather has all the skill advantages even at the age of 40, McGregor was gassed fighting heavy bags after about 5 rounds in one of the training vids, this leads me to believe mayweather is also the better conditioned going into the bout and heavy bags don't punch back. Went on a bit longer then I intended here I'll leave it there.
