To distinguish beautiful and mostly unaffordable houses for sale from Funny houses/flats to rent I dare to start a new thread.

Looking at properties is one of my favourite late night pastimes on the net. I'm happy with my own wee cottage, but a girl can dream ...

A little farther afield as there's nowt like it on Daft, Richard Neutra's relatively small 1959-built house in LA is somewhere I'd happily spend some down time.

Think it last changed hands in 2013 for $950k

I like this purely for the fact that they really utilised the space available (which was clearly tight). Also, it has a lift to the front door, so that's me sold.

Laois is full of grand old houses, because it has some of the best land in the Country. It wasn't Queen's County for nothing.

Oh something tells me I'm going to regret following this thread. I'm bad enough as it is. Can't resist going on Daft 'browsing'. Most of my fantasy houses are in Kerry. I'm drawn there like a moth to a flame. I'd move there in the morning if only I could persuade the other half.

I've often driven up there with the missus (it's about a half an hour from where I live) just to pass an hour sitting on the mountain above looking down at the lake. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

If I won the euro millions I'd totally drop 28m on it!

I know that area well. You couldn't live there for 4 months of the year. Lake freezes in December and thaws out around the end of March. Lovely summer home though.

You'd need to. It'll be -30C outside regularly. The area is covered in summer houses. It's deserted for the winter.

Two observations on that one.....

1. Has the estate agent who wrote the ad never heard of paragraphs?

2. Beautiful(ish) new house, spanking lawn and drive - for a "new old" house that's one of the better examples I've seen .... but would they not think of doing some planting or landscaping to soften it all a bit? It's so STARK.

What makes real old houses stand out is often the gardens/landscaping/creeper etc. This is like something from a scorched earth film!

Stalking Daft has become one of my favorite pass times as of late.

I just can't get enough of the period houses! They are beautiful.

For 2 and a half million - I'd want my neighbours house to be quite a bit further away.

A converted windmill in France for €66,000. It's small (One bed) and could do with a bit of work. But still, it's a windmill.
