I'm actually a fan of McGregor, well I used to be a bigger fan until this new mantra of being unstoppable and a god became the norm for him. I box myself, and did a brief stint in MMA years ago in SBG oddly enough. From my own point of view, a solid foundation in boxing will serve you for any scenario in a ring, if all else fails go back to straight punches and moving your head. Easier said than done of course, but one thing that may be overlooked with Floyd, is just how good he is at the basics, and that to me is where his true power comes from. He has years and years and years of this, and then he adds his own takes but its always built upon the fundamentals of boxing, things that are second nature to him. What Conor CAN do, is give him a but of mystery perhaps. One thing that I have heard was that when boxers become so elite, that when you throw a curve ball in that they are not used to, its throws them off slightly, it gives them a bit of trouble. That might happen, and I would have said it would happen against another fighter, but not really with Floyd, I just can't shift that. I wouldn't be too dismissive as i was when this was announced, I threw it to the dogs instantly. Then I thought maybe there is a chance for Conor. Then you get his aura of confidence which is boarder line sociopathic, the dismissive way he talks about other boxers and all of that carry on, and you see his open workout video along with a brief clip of a sparring session, and I go back to my original idea of that fight. He made a comment about Floyd having run off or something to that effect at his open workout, that he was nowhere to be seen. That alone should terrify him. If Floyd is putting in the work, and getting his pals to put up stuff about his strip club for him, I would worry for Conor that he would be met with a lethal version of Floyd, the one that walks you down ala Canelo. All the talk, social media postings and so forth have been from McGregor, he loves this crap, his ego has grown so much over the past 2 years it is like a condition. No doubt in my mid he believes he can beat Floyd and beat him inside 2 rounds if it is 8oz gloves that they go with, but part of me feels like he is being feed that from his team, telling him he is great and so forth. That was what someone had mentioned as the reason they never went with a boxing coach, he doesn't like being told things in a certain tone etc. That's a worry. The closer the fight gets the more it feels like any other Floyd fight, you kinda want him to lose, but you know that he won't.
