Didn't think much to the first one when I first saw it so rewatched it on Saturday. My brother said he enjoyed it a lot more second time around. I feel like I'm missing something. Everyone seems to love it. It has its moments but for me, it's very hit and miss.

Went to see Vol 2 yesterday and absolutely loved it. Much much better than the first one. It didn't matter that the plot is just a rip off of Futurama's 'A Bicyclops built for two', this is a character driven film that thrives on the dynamics and interactions between its stars.

One of the funniest films I've seen for a while. Drax/Bautista puts in a comedic performance worthy of awards imo. Note perfect.

Coming back to the futurama thing... Is it just coincidence that the plots are almost identical? Is there a link with the writers? Or is that particular episode of futurama inspired by an episode of star trek or something?

Went to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on Thursday. I thought it was pretty good. The story was a little bit meh, but the character development along with the action sequences and comedy made it for me. Been listening to the soundtrack all week now.

Funny thing is, I went to see the the movie with my dad, and the movie is essentially about a father and son. They even had the song Father and Son by Cat Stevens playing in it at one point.

Finally got to see it the other night. It's good. Enjoyable for the most part. Visually stunning at times.

I felt there was a bit too much of the characters having "moments" though. Seemed like everybody had to have their scream their feelings scene. Minor gripe.

A lot of jokes, maybe a few too many as it took away the impact of some of the better ones.

I'd say not as good as the first but that may just be down to the surprise factor / newness of the first. Still good overall though.

I really liked Ego. One of the better MCU villians IMO. Not Loki good but better than most.

Also the after credits scene

with teenage Groot was brillant

Oh yeah and those golden people, I forget what they were called now. Very bad and I was very disappointed to see

them be set up as villians for future films. I don't know what they are going for with them but it didn't land

Well, that was awful.

I got tired of Bautista's stupid laugh, after the first chuckle. What a change of character in (storyline terms) a few months.

There's was no drama or excitement in this film, no surprising twists or turns, nothing that made it unique or original.

The "comedic" dialogue was wretched, horrible, cringey stuff. If anyone actually thought the comedy was genuinely funny and intelligent comedy...what else do you enjoy? The Big Bang Theory and Mrs. Brown's Boys? Probably a bit cliché to bring those up, but the "humour" in this film was as bad as those. "Tazerface"...ugh.

Instead of a dozen post-credit scenes, Marvel should just play an actual trailer for their next film.

Dunno what it is about this film but this is the second time someone who hasn't liked it has questioned the taste of those who did.

Well, I won't question the taste of people who liked the film but, like the first effort I found it twee, largely beyond my ability to tolerate. I know it's a comedy and all, but the producers of Marvel films keep trying to inflate their empty stories with a drama that just falls flat on its face, because nobody in the film gives a damn about any situation they find themselves in. Consequently, why should I?

A case in point, they kill off Yondu...but who cares? It's just the producers ticking a box. Somebody front and centre has to die. Pick the one that has the least impact. Meanwhile, everyone flies around with lasers pinging all over the place...but they don't give a crap. It's all meh. What's my next snappy line?

On a plus side, a Marvel film actually had a semi-memorable villian. But I think that had more to do with the fact that it was Kurt Russell than anything else.

There are a few genuine laughs here and there - "I don't know Cheers is" - but far too few for a comedy and it's really just marking time til it's over and some of the humour is just so laboured.

It's not a bad film. But it not good either and it doesn't live long in the memory, much like every Marvel film I've watched. I can't remember huge chunks of it already. These films, like the MCU overall, are just the epitome of multiplex mulch.

I just don't understand those who try to belittle and shame those who disagree, especially in their first post on the film. It just reeks of trying to get some sort of reaction.

I'm 43 ,found both films to be brilliant,I hate bbt with a passion..

For a film derived from comics I just go to be entertained,not for huge in depth storylines. I won't care how the universe's mix or meet,so long as it's a good movie .

Gotg are the best of those comic movies for me,love the character's. Everyones different.

The 'attack the post, not the poster' rule extends to more generalised posts. Condescending comments or generalised insults aimed at everyone and anyone who disagrees with you are just as bad as attacking an individual. You can easily argue for and against a film without having to make judgements on anyone whose opinion might differ from your own. These sorts of generalised attacks always have a toxic effect on discussion, and posters who use them will receive warnings or infractions and likely have their post deleted.

I think it's merely an effort to back up their opinon. But, it's unnecessarily accusatory and it's entirely the wrong way to do it, of course.

The opinon that you didn't like the film is perfectly fine and there are a ton of reasons why you can dislike Guardians of the Galaxy, or any other Marvel film. The finger pointing, casting aspersions, or further elaborations on someone elses taste isn't needed.

Of course, the opposite applies too. You have the happy clappy crowd who claim that these films are the greatest thing to grace the screen and will gladly gloss over any glaring problems with screenplay, character, dialogue, etc because they can't handle valid criticism of "their" franchise.

My overall issue with the MCU is that they're not really films. It's a marketing strategy around which movies are hung on. The sales concern comes first - everything else is secondary or even tertiary. They're woefully thin on story, have no real lasting effect and are utterly disposable. It's an ongoing problem with modern "blockbuster" franchises.

It's not a problem for the megacorp that produces them, of course. It's just, as a film fan, it has become extremely tiresome to sit down to the latest and greatest only to find, yet again, that it's just really average fare with a high level of glossy veneer slopped on top to hide the fact that the materials underneath are quite flimsy.

Although, as a model, Mavel isn't the worst. I was happy that 'Ghostbusters' sank for Sony, I was delighted that the so called "Dark Universe" began and ended with 'The Mummy', which was an idea that pisses on the great Universal monster movies of the 30's. But, it seems everything these days is aimed at creating a franchise to milk money, instead of simply trying to make a good film.

Seen it a few times now and sadly for it, its not better than the 1st one. Its good very good even but not better.

I think that is normal in sequels, I find the actors are just having a laugh with these characters thats good to see.
