I apologise for doing it though, I know it's not all of them.

It is a shame that a few ignorant so called "Rossies" ruined the game for both Mayo and Roscommon fans on Sunday. I was very surprised at how many there actually was. It is a disgrace and it has no place in the GAA. Somehow I don't think there will be as much of that s**t the next day because it will only be the real fans that travel to the next game.

Hasn't really got going individually imo. But himself, Tom and Aidan as a MF trio of sorts were doing ok collectively. He probably epitomizes the team, been struggling through and the hope is something will spark into life.

It's a shame, he was in flying form for his Club coming into the Championship.

He's not been great in a few games this year. Of all the players who you'd say are feeling the tiredness from the run of games, it's him. Surprised he stayed on as long the last day if Parsons was fit to come on at all.

What did ye think of the Keith Higgins high tackle at the end?

I honestly thought it was a red card tackle. He lept into it late and really high. It was reckless.

Aidan O'Shea was hit high as well but I thought this one was really bad.

RTE showed no slow motion replays afterwards so it's hard to tell if it was just the whole drama and emotion of the occasion.

You're being completely disingenuous. I dont think anybody was against McStay being manager of Mayo per se, posters were merely pondering the reasons for the perceived dislike of McHale among the players. As for

Absolutely, loads of good friends who have great opinions on hurling and football, actually work with Galway ex hurling captain.

You still seem to struggle to get your head around the fact McStay/McHale come as a package. You can't have one without the other, that's been made clear. If you don't want McHale that's fine but you won't be getting McStay either.

Care to name any alternatives? Maybe we could try John O'Mahoney again?

McStay/McHale have more than earned the right to manage the Mayo team. They can't do any worse than what we had in recent years.

Yeh it was a tongue in cheek suggestion. His best days are behind him as a manager.

There really aren't many alternatives in Mayo to manage the Mayo team. We could well be looking at a period in the doldrums.

it would be interesting to compare how many goals were scored against David clarke this year, versus how many games Ger Cafferkey played in. IE, since Caff was playing full games, have we conceeded more goals on average? for the last 2 games we conceeded 2 goals each which I would wager is much higher than Clarkes recent averages - if not career averages... what are peoples thoughts?

His time in Clare & Cavan wasn't a great success in terms of his coaching.
It's pretty much a package deal with the two lads and this "package" was one of the issues that prevented them from getting the job in 2014.
Good luck to them but in football terms one should never say never. Both are young and energetic enough to be in the running for the mayo management job in future should it arise.

To me the problem is in the half forward line. We have a whole half forward line paying as wing backs effectively.
When the inside forwards get the ball the half forwards line is to far away from play to catch up and it allows teams to get defenders back.

We should be putting clare/derry/roscommon on the back foot but instead we have a team set up to contain the opposition and it is clearly not working at this point. We are scraping through games.

Keegan in the full back line 2nd half was a joke abs the reason why we nearly last. If he was in midfield half forward line yesterday he would've ran riot in the form he was in. It would have made roscommon pull payers back to counter that threat allowing us to push up.

Colm keys is a national journalist and he repeatedly incorrectly referred to mayo possibly playing Tyrone and having lost the potential extra weeks rest

Since when have these followers been consulted on the appointment of Managers?. Or anything, for that matter?.

Criticism of McStay or McHale either individually or as a pair does not automatically mean being opposed to their appointment to manage the team. You'd do well to cop on to that fact.
Personally, I thought McStay was very poorly treated when Holmes and Connelly were appointed by the County Board, which was a complete shambles.
Perhaps the County Board are these clueless vocal followers you refer to, because the decisions begin and end with them and them alone.

As regards the "Cant do worse" I recall last year we brought the team that is being lauded as one of the best ever to play football to a replay and lost the final by a single point. Not bad for a manager who's in his first year in Inter County management. The only possible improvement on that is for us to win the bloody thing.
Likelihood we will do worse this year as while I expect we should beat Roscommon, I can't see us beating Kerry on current form.

You though the post match ramblings about the ref by the editor of a Mayo GAA blog was more of a "wow" moment than a national journalist coming up with a hypothesis of Mayo's disappointment based on a completely incorrect reading of the fixture schedule ?

The guy is a national journalist, yet he did not know who the winners of the game he had just watched would be playing next.

Actually not only did he not know, he had a completely incorrect understanding of who the winners would be playing next.
