Dude or Dudete..MayPac is my only experience of a "Mega fight".
That is to say, a fight that EVERYONE is or was talking about...
Before the fight over on ringtv.com they did a poll taking in the opinions of about 30 very knowledgeable boxing people.
It was about 26-4 in favour of Mayweather....
Now I've detailed my opinion on that fight before but when I saw that before the fight I was thinking "Yeah but anything is possible". And yeah it's true but it's not going to happen. Floyd Mayweather has being practising boxing since he was 4 years old. He happens to be the best defensive fighter of his era.
If any style is gonna give him trouble it's gonna be the gung ho swarming style. If Mc tries that he's gonna be gassed by the end of round one and picked apart..easily...please? Watch the fight and let's all move on to Canelo v GGG and Paige van Zants next fight.
Take it for what it is.

He needs to get close to Floyd, rough him up in the clinch, dirty box... etc. He shouldn't worry about fouling or getting points deducted, as he is never going to win on points anyway! (the referee will probably be crucial to any slim hope Conor has in this regard)

But I agree with you, I don't really think Conor will have very much control over the flow of this fight... Floyd will run things his way. It really just depends whether Floyd wants to drag this thing out, or if he wants to finish it relatively quickly!

If this really is his last fight ever.... he might want to put on a bit of a show for the world, and give everyone a bit of a flashback to his younger days. I do think he'll want the finish... if it's there... but I don't see him going head hunting. I think he'll still be patient.

Not really. It's common sense for anyone who has some knowledge of Boxing and Floyd Mayweather's ability
Nobody in that video is from the Mayweather camp or has ties to the Showtime promotion. It's Floyd's last fight so they don't have anything to gain from it. Infact some of them are not particularly fond of the man. But as boxing people, they do respect his outstanding skill and ability in the ring

The most notably person in that clip is Paulie Malinaggi. He was speaking completely open and honestly right there. He has ofcouse changed his tune now that he getting paid my Showtime to cover the fight and also getting paid by McGregor to help him train.

I don't think he will have enough time to land a punch. I can't see the this going past the 3rd round. As Paulie Malinaggi said in the video. Conor is the worst boxer Mayweather has ever fought

Blind Conor and blind MMA fans need to realise that if the situation was reversed there would be likely just as many in MMA ridiculing this and treating it with contempt. This is not boxing vs. MMA. It is, and should be boxing and MMA calling this what it is, a con job circus farce..

This is a boxing match, why wouldn't they be biased towards the sport of boxing?? Conor is going to be judged on his ability to win a boxing match! Simple as that.... this not a fight. His cage fighting skills are not really relevant to this contest.

If Conor acquits himself well, and shows more boxing ability and skill than we think he has... I will be the first to shower him in praise.

Even if he just manages to survive longer than I suspect he can... again I will give him credit for this.

All most people are guilty of on this thread, is using their brain by making a logical assessment of Conor's realistic chances in his pro boxing debut, against one of the greatest boxers to ever lace up a pair of gloves...

It's a highly skilled sport, just like MMA... it takes years of hard work and dedication to even have any hope of mastering these skills.

This fight is literally "The Emperors New Clothes". People can say "what if McGregor does this, what if that happens" and believe he has a chance. It's ridiculous. He will literally be hammered by Mayweather and there will be nothing he can do. He'll be schooled on fight night. He literally has no chance. Not a punchers chance. No chance.

It's funny. Boxing fans generally accept that if this was MMA rules McGregor would win easily and early.

But MMA fans don't have the humility to accept that because It's Boxing rules, Mayweather will win easily and early. They don't respect the discipline.

Conor hasn't earned this fight, that's true and the probability of him going the distance is almost non-existent, no argument there either......... but without question he has of course a chance that (at just 29-years-old) McGregor can hurt a 40-year-old Floyd given Conor's vast experience (and success) with punching and defending against being punched in combat sports.

To sneer at the possibility that his skills will be of use to him in a boxing ring (particularly with regards to the early rounds) just because they have so far only being shown to effect in MMA.............. is extremely bloody naive.

His power is being grossly exaggerated in the context of this event..

He's not a concussive KO hitter and does not deliver shots with the mechanics of a concussive KO hitter.

But, according to ESPN sports science, McGregor hits harder than Mayweather. So by your reasoning, will Mayweather not KO McGregor? Will it be only possible to get a TKO through damage accumulation?

Weeks have passed and I still cant understand

Grown men (or women) unable to accept the fact that a man they don't know personally , will lose badly in another sport to a man who is an all time great in that particular sport. Every bit of common sense points towards an easy win for the boxer against somebody who has never boxed professionally before and hasnt even boxed in the club scene in Dublin as an adult before
