Or place in your head lining. Most cars front headlining will drop away nicely if you remove the flip down sun visors temporarily. Just note:

- This area gets hot in hot weather, as you are touching the roof.
- I'd suggest a small wrap of bubble wrap around the box and cabling, to stop rattle against the roof metal.

Makes for a very tidy install as you can then run your power cabling along the roof and down the pillars to your fuse box.

Same. My power wire runs into the sensor box yoke and up into the roof lining.

Thanks guys. I had another look earlier and I definitely want it up out of the way and not in the middle. Upside down on the left it is! I'll have to pry the rear one off and flip it now too for when I'm playing it back in the viewer so they're both the same way around.

The cabling turned out great I think. I fed the cable for the rear one up thru the grommet on the back door so the cable is only visible where it comes out under the panel. I left enough slack hidden out of view front and back too in case I wanted to reposition them. Nothing visible on the left where it's running front to back

Just waiting for the fuse taps to come for the power magic pro - smaller fuses in the new car! :rolleyes:

I have very limited space - I'd like to fit the dashcam between sliding visor and the windscreen. Around 3 cm from the glass.

Which dash cams would be on the smaller side? BlackVue look quiet ok, would have to measure them - but they are slighlty outside of what I would like to pay...

I have just seen a special offer on the Kenwood DVR-410 in a local shop. They sell it at a lower price than anywhere else on the web, so I am thinking about it.
It has an embedded GPS receiver, lane assist, forward collision alert and HDR video recording.
It comes with two cables, one for the 12 V power socket and one for the hard wiring.
It seems a good item.

It's a local shop of car accessories and spares. They sell it at 159 euro.
I have read a few reviews and watched some videos, it seems a good device.

I got two of these units. Have to say, I'm very impressed by them. Picture quality is fantastic and the Wifi feature links extremely well with the App. Everything you do on the unit itself, you can also do with the App. If you have used the GoPro Camera App, you'll be right at home here.

Over the Wifi connection, you can download SD (~30MB) or HD (~350MB) video files to the App in ~3min increments.

Edit: I'll come back with a HD example, was trying to say the SD is super sharp but the upload process as ruined that intent.

Downsides:

- You'll need to flash the units to an English firmware. Not impossible and plenty of tutorials online.
- The supplied mount is a sticky 3M pad, not suction. I like to be able to remove my DVR occasionally but this is one use only.
- Default Yi logo is on, can be turned off.

On the Halford's UK site you can do comparisons. Not huge differences it seems. If I'm looking at it right the cheaper 312 seems to have night-vision and the 412 not? Comparisons here…

If you are getting it in Halfords, you can use the 10% voucher here it's via groupscheme, they might ask for badge ID, but any work badge ID will work as there's lots of companies working with groupscheme and Halfords wouldn't know all.

I'm knew to cameras so looking for recommendations, good quality picture, I would like a camera small enough that could be left in the car all the time 24h a day, will that drain the battery? Start recording if movement around the car or when start driving. I was thinking about the 512GW as looks good but any other recommendations?

I seen earlier Lidl are doing a dashcam from Monday, I wonder how good or bad are they.

I got the maxtek aldi one a month ago. All good, 2 weeks later stopped charging off the socket in the car. Camera itself was fine, the usb charger worked. Brought it back, aldi replaced no quibble.

New one worked straight away. 2 weeks later, same thing happened with the new one. The charger cable again. I have it neatly tucked under the trim all the say down to power socket so its not getting knocked about.

Any ideas?

Are there any Spytech A119 owners out there. Any recommendations for best settings ? Have one setup for a few days, picture quality isn't what I thought it would be.

Not sure if it's something I've done, camera angle, settings or something.

I'm thinking of changing to this BlackVue DR430-2CH on front and back, tucked away and no screen showing. On the long finger for now, still have a Nextbase at the moment.

The blackvue cameras are class. I have a dr750lw 2ch. Couldn't drive without the front and rear cams. 1080p front and rear, although I think the rear has more clarity. The 430s have superb quality from what I've seen online. Cost me 75e for installation by a qualified auto electrician as far as I can remember. Was over a year ago. best of luck

I had a look at the 430, they don't have WiFi and are only 1080p. The WiFi is a must as you can transfer the footage directly to your phone without touching the micro SD. Otherwise you'll be fiddling. The 720p footage is good, bit not for that money. I would suggest looking on eBay. I bought mine from Singapore from a blackvue dealer on eBay. Far cheaper, you might be able to find a 1080p model, the 650 I think, for a similar price to halfords.

You will need an auto electrician to hard wire to the car either way.

Ps, buy the GPS adapter otherwise you won't record speed

I have a 171 Hyundai and just want to make sure.
