The Reservoir Dubs Anchorman wrote: » Against Mayweather? Where? Why wasn't he good last night? He was terrible and to be honest as stated before in this thread I really thought he would bring something to the Press conferences. He's at a major disadvantage, in the UFC he can claim to be the best and be the draw but he's a side attraction in a boxing match and he knows it. He knows he cant claim to be a better boxer. He's going on about knocking Mayweather out, but frankly no one believes him.

ScumLord wrote: » I think the real talk happened at the staredown at the end, McGregor said some things that seemed to really get under Mayweather's skin and annoy him. I think that's stage one in Conor's plan achieved, he's in Mayweather's head now.
MojoRisinnnn wrote: » Exactly. The Mayweather crew wont address that though  Great username btw.
hbhook wrote: » That was a **** show just as Dana White said it would be. Let's be fair though, they clearly sent McGregor up and then kept him waiting. He's not a standup comedian. Now he knows what to expect he'll be more comfortable. Overall it was crap. Connor wouldn't beat Paulie Malinaggi ffs. I'm convinced Mc is gagged in some way. Obviously he's not gonna mention domestic abuse but he could bring up...picking opponents at the right time, injections (brittle hands), IVs..

The Reservoir Dubs Anchorman wrote: » Rebuttals? He had a whole load of time to deliver something, he didnt. He was really really poor. Looked nervous and had nothing to say, nothing there for him to lord over Mayweather, he just was really poor and I was expecting alot more. Like they know this press conference is coming up and McGregor could have at least been to the point, coherent and abusive, but he just wasnt. Also he didnt react well to not having the crowd on his side. and the Mr Tapout comment seemed to not only annoy McGregor but Freeze him as well.
FreshBedsheets wrote: » How do you know he didn't make rebuttals if his mic was off, you wouldn't hear them.
The Reservoir Dubs Anchorman wrote: » A rebuttal doesnt have to be instantaneous. It can be measured and delivered in his mic time. McGregor was awful yesterday for a guy who does normally bring something to the table in terms of presence. He lacked any.
FreshBedsheets wrote: » You obviously didn't hear his interviews and Q and A afterwards then.
The Reservoir Dubs Anchorman wrote: » We are talking about the press conference, in which he was terrible. I watched the interview afterwards, wouldn't say he was much better. There was nothing to the interview and Q& A afterwards. But my main disappointment for the entire thing was how poor his presence was in the Presser. He just didn't bring anything to it, wasn't charismatic, wasn't even humourous. Was bland and I'm afraid what @walshb predicted last week ended up happening.
FreshBedsheets wrote: » The whole set up was not such that it brings out charisma. I would expect Conor to adjust for tonight's one though so he will be more prepared this time.
walshb wrote: » Supposing that is true. What does it mean on fight night?
yabadabado wrote: » I think you are really over analysing it.I don't know how anyone could come away thinking either got the upper hand in the staredown.
ScumLord wrote: » I didn't so much say anyone got the upper hand. But in the final face off Mayweather clearly started to get annoyed, it was obvious in his facial expressions and body language. It was getting more and more heated and you could see in Dana White's face that he was cracking up at whatever McGregor was saying. I think Connor has an ability to just get under his opponent's skin so they fight emotionally in the ring. I really think that's played a part in a number of McGregor's fights. It may not work against Mayweather and he'll keep his cool, but I certainly think part of McGregor's strategy is to wind up his opponent so they forget their game plan in a fit of rage.
walshb wrote: » Fair enough I just think that it's so ridiculously insignificant in the grand scheme of things...
