Official Conor McGregor thread (part 3) *Updated Warning in 1st Post Re:Boxing match

The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 3.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.

Any "Do you even train Bro?" or "I'm an mma fan longer than you" type posts are not permitted either. They only make you look like a fool and as a result, everyone hates you. Yes everyone.

I don't know what to make of this but it's hardly going to scare the opposition if a 20-year-old amateur is joking about walking through Conor's shots.

I prefer Floyd's team way of doing things. It's like getting blood from a stone asking Floyd's sparring partners about training.

No way he doesn't get hit over five rounds and when he does it would be lights out imo.

Not sure you could say that about Khabib as he's never been knocked down let alone KOd. And he has taken a few hard shots so I'd consider his chin to be fairly solid.

Ferguson has been knocked down and off balance several times but his recovery is usually very good, particularly when he gets rushed he has great techniques of grabbing a hold of people and turning it into a grappling exchange.

I have a feeling if Ferguson got the fight he would try some absolutely crazy stuff in the octagon, I'd expect loads of rolls and unorthodox striking. I'd give him a chance but he may have to survive some big shots to get his openings.

I honestly don't think there's a lightweight in the game that could beat Khabib in full flow, he's simply too good at takedowns and top control. I've yet to see any real evidence of his poor stand up either, sure it's nowhere near Mcgregors level of striking but it doesn't need to be. He would be more than happy for 99% of the fight to take place on the ground.

Johnson has very good striking and his left hand packs a lot of power. Still couldn't get the finish against Ferguson either.

As well as that, Ferguson has improved immensely since that fight so while it's relevant to look at it, I'd reckon he's getting better defensively. I thought he was much improved in this department against RDA.

Ferguson McGregor is a fight I really want to see because they both bring so much unique skills to the octagon. It would be a great test for both of them to see how they could deal with it while also implementing their own game plan.

Being a 20 year old amatuer has nothing to do with ability to take punches but yeah he should be keeping his mouth shut regardless of what mcgregor posts, obviously his pride taking over.

I just more meant in terms of Conor would be expected to catch a younger amateur cleaner with shots.

Yeah I hope it's not 2 months of this with sparring partners leaking stories and commenting on stuff. When Conor Wallace came in for the Diaz camp he was pretty tight lipped on social media in terms of revealing anything.

I'd hate to see a repeat of the Van Heerden drama with sparring partners looking for 15 seconds of fame.

I suppose. But that's how the whole van Heerden mess started too, Conor put out an edited clip of him landing and then van Heerden hasn't shut up about it for a year trying to slate Conor.

I just thought he'd have taken steps to ensure same thing doesn't go down again with non-disclosure & confidentiality agreements.

TBH there's obviously the strong possibility with $100 million for this fight that he doesn't give a monkeys who says what in the build-up.

Conor is the one releasing the footage/pictures though.
From Tony Jeffries the Van Heerden spar was a spur of the moment. Conor was filming it and released his footage so Van Heerden released his. Nothing wrong with that.

Both people involved in the training have reputations and pride that they want to protect. That's why we rarely see footage of spars because it's likely agreed upon.

Sparring partners are getting paid to help you etc and won't mention anything about what happens, good or bad or anything about your gameplan (If they even know anything). And also don't want you to try tarnish their reputation (no matter how big or small) by using them as a highlight real/photo op chance.

It was one round. Diaz won the fight. Mendes hit Conor a lot in the face in their fight. Doesn't mean anything at the end of the day, he still lost.

You could apply the same logic to the rematch with Diaz taking Conor in round three. Doesn't mean anything at the end of the day.

feel like way too much is being read into it. if mgregor wants to post photos of him smacking people, instead of a neutral photo or one of him getting hit then he can expect people to not be happy about it. But having said that, I didn't take the guys response as negative

Didn't Johnson have him on wobbly legs in the first round?
Don't get me wrong, I think khabib is a beast but I see it going similar to Mendes. Conor will land and when he does khabib will feel it. khabib will have never been hit like that.
