Compost bins

We're hoping to start composting food waste to use in garden rather than using the brown bin for it all. Any tips on the best kinds to get and where to find them? We've asked in a couple of places like Homebase and Homestore and more but they don't stock them.
Thanks.

Not sure if its the same for you but our local council still has compost bins allegedly available for 13. Euro. Got mine years ago worth checking.

Thanks, didn't think of that. One of the neighbours is using a regular brown bin with some holes in it but I don't know how they get the stuff out without upending the whole thing! Must ask them how it works for them. Thanks for the reply.

Read up on composting before buying a bin or the chances are you'll be dissapointed with the results. A good proprietary compost activator will help break down kitchen waste faster than it would normally. In regards to a bin,get the biggest you can afford as composting needs a minimum size pile before it will work properly
