Leaving Certificate Technology 2017

I am doing critical path diagrams. In the book the path starts at 1 but in the exam papers 2011 Section B Question 3 (d) 0 is used as the earliest start time. I found this article https://www.izenbridge.com/blog/comparison-between-early-start-as-0-or-1-in-network-diagram/ but it has only confused me more. Is there a definitive answer?

According to my teacher who was one of the first second-level Tech teachers in the country... almost all of the book is a load of crap.
In my class we've always started it at 0, I believe.

I was just looking at another book and it started at 0 as well so I think I'll stick with that. Thanks.
