Hi guys! Just looking to see if anyone can recommend a really good cleanser, ideally one that removes all/most makeup easily, as I wear quite a lot for work 5 days a week. I have combination/normal skin, and I'm 19 so don't really need anti-wrinkle (yet :rolleyes: ). I've done some research online but would love some first hand reviews and also to hear of any of your holy grail products!! Preferably looking for one I can buy in a drugstore or BT/Arnotts. Any help is much appreciated:D

I use bare minerals, I have the cleanser and exfoliating wash and follow it up with the anti blemish oil...I love them!

Ive tried that many cleansers over the years and have always gone back to coconut oil to take off makeup, it melts it off and has helped to get rid of spots and irritation on my skin. To wash my face soap and glory 'peaches and clean' and soap and glory Vitamin C facial wash are both excellent. Very cheap options but they work better than more expensive products i've tried and given the length of time they spend on my face I dont see any reason to spend loads on a product that will be wiped/washed off in under 30 seconds.

For a budget friendly option I like the Una Brennan Superfacialist rose cleaner, it's best taken off with a muslin cloth or a face cloth and hot water!

My favorite cleansers are Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel (available in Space NK), Emma Hardy Cleansing Balm (space NK/ M&S) and Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser (boots online/boots Dundrum).

Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing Balm is also worth a look!

Believe it or not I've started using the Lidl brand cien. The have a face wash 'daily exfoliating face wash' and toner ' refreshing facial toner'. My daughter told me her friend was using these and her skin looked great. I suffer with acne on my neck and take the contraceptive pill for it, but stopped taking it and usually it comes back, but it hasn't. My daughter is 16 and has a few spots and they've cleared up. Then my sister came down to the house and seen it and said she had been using it and how great it was. So I decided to go buy a few bottles to have and they've been sold out each time I go. The secret is out... but for what it's worth I wear make up everyday and the combination of both of these have kept my skin looking a feeling good. For about €3 total

Totally agree that it might not suit everyone but several of my friends, my in laws to be and my sister all use it without problem! They sell tester size that's handy for travel if you get on with it.

Liz Earle is full of essential oils which can cause inflammation. I recommend Elave cleanser, huge tube of it for €8.30 in Boots, by far one of the best I've used and it's an Irish brand

I've been using Garnier Micellar Water for years, takes all makeup off and is kind to the skin. You can buy the large 500ml bottles for about 5 euro and they last ages.

Thanks so much for all the replies, I will definitely pick up a few of the suggestions and see which suits me best.

I usually use the Garnier Micellar water, and more recently have been trying their micellar gel wash,but find they don't really give my skin the deep clean I'm looking for:(

OP if you cleanse twice, that really makes a difference. The first cleanse removes makeup & dirt. And then the 2nd cleanse cleans the skin.
It's not really high street, but I use Dermalogica's cleansers.
Precleanse is used to remove makeup. It's a gorgeous smelling oil (very fine oil) that lathers on the skin.
Then I use Essential Cleansing Solution which is great for sensitive skin. I get a 500ml bottle of that and it lasts me 6 months (using twice a day!)

If you don't want to get Dermalogica, you can always use your own cleansers twice. And use a wet cloth to wash the cleansers off. Your skin feels so clean afterwards.

I've stopped using Micellar water, I found it very drying on my skin and after reading this, I'd never go back to using it

I use a cleanse off mitt for the pre cleanse and then trilogy cleanser for my skin.

I've just started using 'the cleanse off mitt' by the skin nerd, along with a facial cleansing oil but you can use it with just water, it's fantastic at removing all makeup including waterproof mascara! I've bought a second one to have while the other one is being washed!

Same here. A disasterous reaction to it, avoid.

I love Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel.
Can't use anything else.

Dermalogica special cleansing gel all the way.. I have been using it for years. Its about €30 a bottle but it lasts me 6 months so definitely worth the money

Following this thread as I'm interest in getting a new on myself has anyone any experience with the cleansing oil from kinvara?

First I use deep cleansing oil by DHC, followed by a water based cleanser called Perfect Whip by Senka. Both have cult followings in Japan (also worldwide). Cheap and cheerful too! I find using the two together is the perfect balance for me as neither are harsh or drying and my skin feels so soft and clean.

I love the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel which is great for keeping dry skin plump! You can get it online (Beauty Bay / Cult Beauty) or in Space NK (more expensive here!)

This is my holy grail makeup remover, I love love love it. Been using it for around 2 and a half years now.

Removes everything, even waterproof mascara, doesn't irritate my eyes (I find for example when I use the Clinique TTDO balm I end up with lots of gritty bits in my eyes the next morning but not with this), and its so reasonable - the bottles last ages.

Been using an oil cleanser by a small Irish company called tomitago.

It's gorgeous. Smell quite strong but it's really gentle. Leaves my skin feeling so soft.
