Some other cases in point, Elle King's 'Ex's & Oh's' got the same treatment last year when it was in the charts, as did Twenty One Pilots' 'Heathens'. I'm not here to criticise said tracks, but do they really belong on a 'classic rock' station? I suppose if they want to grasp that lucrative national licence we had better get used to more deviation from the original subject matter.

I can't ever remember hearing young irish talent. I think a few tracks a week by the strypes would go down a treat. Back in the old days when I had the dial a few notches up on today fm dermot and dave used to do a segment where they would play a track from a relatively new or unknown irish band. Some songs were obviously better then others but good to here something different.

I dont normally listen of a sunday evening but one sunday night I was driving and had the pleasure to listen to a dj, who's voice some might say had no place on radio but his passion and knowledge of the music he was playing was infections. I had no idea who he was playing but after he would introduce a band or a song by sharing something interesting about it it was hard not to also share his enthusiasm for the craft. I like listening to the classics but would also like to be introduced to something new on occasion and all the better if its local.

He has complete free rein and tends to play a lot more obscure or lesser played stuff. He knows his stuff and his been doing those kind of shows for years - mainly pirates between 1978 and 1988.
