Just back from 3 week holiday in Vegas and LA and Utah. Only part I hate is the sleep pattern is all over the place.

Yeah, nothing worse than jetting off to spend a week or more in a foreign country with a warm climate. Day after day of walking around sightseeing or sitting on a beach. Those kids in the 3rd world who pick through landfills everyday....they just don't know how good they have it!

I hate some types of holidays

Sun Holidays, sitting around at a pool... waste of time and effort.

Would much rather go somewhere in europe on the bike, way more enjoyable.

As I'm getting older I'm starting to not like them as much as I used to. Probably because I've got kids and it's not really a holiday for me anymore.

Spending the whole day at the beach digging in the sand, in and out of the sea 50 times and trying to make sure they've enough sun cream on, having to make sure they get to sleep at a decent hour.

Rushing our dinner in the restaurant because we know they're going to get restless and bored and make a show of us if we're not out of there in a timely manner.

Listening to them moaning because the flight is so long, even though we just boarded half an hour ago.

Fun.

For all those reasons haven't been anywhere in about 15 years, mostly because it would involve going through an airport and the last time I flew I ended up in hospital for a week with nephritis. I don't think my body can handle the stress. I would gladly travel around the world on a bike or in a giant truck (don't know why a truck but I suspect that would be great). I love day trips though. I love sitting on a bus or a train and staring out the window and listening to music, love it.

I hate going to the beach. And I'm not really into places that have the same weather as Ireland in the summer. And I'd never do a camping or biking holiday. But going to an interesting, warm place and experiencing the culture and food is fantastic.

You MUST want to leave your own home and pay money to sleep in another bed.

If you don't adhere to these rules then you risk being classed as odd.
Few years ago hubby had a bereavement which resulted in us cancelling our holiday.
Teenage daughter delighted we spent the money instead on takeaways and treats and we lay around the house (the weather was lovely) and in and out to the garden.
We've never looked back.

When I was single I wasn't mad into holidays really - I used to prefer taking a few days off work from time to time and just chilling out - maybe play a computer game, drink a few beers etc, be at no one's bye or leave. Now I'm married - every last day of my holiday leave is co-opted around having to go somewhere or another, sick of it at this stage - just want my chill time back

Thats all well and good for you.
Everyone has different tastes
I personally find holidays more stress than enjoyment a lot of the time, especially if its with a group of people who I constantly have to socialise with
Im always happy I did go on a holiday once I have gone though

Always hated activity type holidays. Gimme a place I've never been before with nice scenery or interesting streets and sunshine and I'll happily spend a week doing nothing but aimlessly perambulating, sitting outside cafes and relaxing.

I'm guessing you don't have kids.

I used to be like that. Lived for holidays, out clubbing til the sun came up, lounging on the beach all day with a cocktail in hand etc, it was paradise.

Enjoy it for as long as you can.

I love throwing a bag into the car and heading off down the country for a few days with family. I do this several times over the Summer months and far prefer it to having one big holiday that takes loads of planning, shopping for and fussing about getting to the airport on time, what I can take through security, delayed flights etc.

My passport has been out of date for three years and I've had the best three Summers since I was a kid. I take several weeks off work and spend it chilling at home, going on nice day trips and having short holidays like the above.
