Once there's no major rust on that Accord, id get the headlights focused and other than that id honestly be shocked if it failed an NCT. They are painfully reliable cars.

The arches are the biggest problem on them when they get older so that will need checking, especially the lower half just above the sill cover.

It's sister car the rover 600 and also 400 series as well as the 5th and 6th generation civic all share the same arch design and all rust in and around the same area.

Don't know about the engine but check windows are working correctly,they are prone to faulty regulators/motors,and also key fob, make sure boot opens as sometimes the wires break in the loom going into the boot.

It's never going to be the cheapest way of getting from a to b. It will drink petrol like its going out of fashion.
But what a nice comfy bus if you do sub 10K miles a year to run into the ground.
I'd much sooner cruise around in it than a new fiesta for example.

Dropped my Corolla in for a quote and apparently the coil needs replacing, so with the work on the exhaust it'll cost me around 200 and that's before putting it through the NCT to see if it'll pass. So I'm more leaning towards picking something up now.

There's very little work in swapping a coil pack, it and the exhaust will empty your wallet if left as is though.
