I think I'd rather see le Pen ahead in polls coming up election.... Going back to brexit and trump.... We were told the polls were saying neither would happen.... The French might get cold feet, play safe and vote for the young lad.....

I heard a great one there from Ivan Yates on Brendan O'Connor's "The Cutting Edge" the other night questioning Macron's sexuality.
It shouldn't influence these things but ........??

Edit: personally I don't care if anyone is black, white, Asian, from Donegal or gay, straight, bisexual or asexual.

2nd edit: I'm also calling it a dry summer on the weather forum it doesn't mean I want either to happen though.

Ok about 3 or 4 a day was very active the 2 weeks before starting so hopefully it will keep coming like that, apparently something like 3.5 % a day should be coming in for compact calving to be maintained?

Something similar. Coming to the end of the first three weeks now. 4 on this morning only one served the rest only 4-5 weeks calved.

Wouldn't serving them help to compact the calving season, even though the shortly calves ones would have a lower chance of going in calf?

Based on past experience a min of 2 of them wouldn't hold. At the same time they'll be in good order on the next round.

Used a je straw on a cow here today, 1st for this farm! (good few bought in jex but none home bred!) Picking up a pure br fr bull over the next day or so, mixed feelings consider every replacement has been AI bred in probably 30 yrs here! But progress in my mind, labour definitely the limiting factor now!

We use beef straws all the time. We wouldn't be using anything trendy so prices are fairly middle of the road. I'm our experience cows like the three yesterday just don't hold to an early head like that so we don't bother serving them anymore. They'll be eight weeks calved next time and still have two more heats to go in calf before the bulls come out.

Starting serving heifers on Friday and cows on Monday. This is the busiest few weeks of the year here. 6 weeks AI or 5 if we get fed up then mop up with a He Bulls

For the quality of stock? I'm using bulls here for years, I reckon it's costing me at least five litres per cow. But then again it's impossible for me to AI so I can't really give out because it's my own doing.

Ye put a bit squareness back into the stock. Calves are alot hardier and fertility improved alot.

She won't.
Centre right and left parties have come out and encouraged their members to abstain from voting. Same with some unions.
That suits Macron perfectly. The blue rinse brigade will vote in droves to protect their pensions and savings...big push of late to explain what the new franc would do to savings and the banks. It's always about the banks isn't it...

Ah wait until the morning there could be loads.... do many here do their own ai? Ai man is normally here at half 8 in the morning so cows aren't waiting around for long, only serve in the morning here

Not too bad. They generally come down between the crush and parlour from a holding yard and keep everything with tail paint gone or disturbed. Then filter off the ones without chin ball paint and AI the rest.

There is some foul language used at times though, fekkin heifers.

Only milking now so was hoping for a few more. Morning AI here as well. Full as a tick now after confirmation.

Do ai myself here as well do once a day most days, have occasionally gone with an aa the following day if I thought one may have been just starting
