Didn't the facelift have the badge on the bonnet and a different grille, seems to have the slightly darker headlights of the pre facelift too.

As you said the grille is different. Also note the headlamp washers and fog lights.
Looks like a possible repair to the front end to me.

The one I posted seems to be an original Irish car. 1.8 would have been unusual for an Irish car though.

I had a 1995 Carina e 1.6 XLi years ago. Brilliant car lost the key as well and just started to use a screw driver to start it. I had no key to lock it either and it would take a car robber seconds to rob it since I had all the hard work done already to the ignition.

Never stolen on me either.

Well it doesn't have airbags for a start but I think I remember reading somewhere(I could be wrong) about the corolla from the same era doing surprisingly well in some crash test for a car of its time.

Brilliant cars that took the miles extremely well, they could do mega miles and still drive the same as day one and outside the usual consumables service items they gave next to no problems at all. Most had nice(for their time) velour seats too(sadly lacking in the one above) which were very comfortable.

The later carina e while still being a good car paled in comparison to the II that preceded it.

A yaris isn't bad for a small car, it might not be the best car to do long journeys in but it's competent enough and still a lot better than waiting in the cold or rain for a bus/train

I've only ever knowingly seen one 1997 Avensis in my whole life. I'd say the early ones were demos/press cars

Maybe but you can be pretty sure the Yaris will turn up and do the task on the day

...I'd probably pick the Yaris given the choice. Like pretty much any car out there some like them for various reasons, some don't. Will we just draw a line on the sand and get on with it

Agree on the first bit, that bravo is barely fit for scrap,

But that white vectra was grand, a few sprays of fallout remover and it would have been a minter! :pac: had a full years test at the time iirc. I would have driven it
