Data used by EirTV does not get included in your usage.
I'd imagine any other TV streaming would come under your normal usage.

Thanks for the link..I did go through this thread about 20 pages previous but my phone was overheating!!! I will melt it if I ever get FTTH!

I have a feeling they are going to do something like that as I live at a T junction and am lucky enough to have the hallowed blue circle around my property but the rollout stops in two directions after me, 1 within 50mtrs & the other within 600mtrs so it is coming out being fed from direction 3 but there is 5 properties around 1 km in that direction heading back into the town which aren't light blue & they are roadside dwellings not up long lanes or anything.there rollout map doesn't make sense to unless they are deploying a cabinet in the area which would mean FTTC

We havent seen them do it yet but its the big upside to their single vendor setup, its rather trivial to mix and match LTs to match demand/dwelling patterns in each area.

It should be FTTH because FTTC only work upto 2km your area down for spring/summer 2017 the dates can change mine got push back twice I'm down for Autumn 2017.

Hi you can get out of your imagine LTE contract you just pay €100.

There's no way of validating the dates. Sometimes Eir are ahead of schedule and other times they're behind, meaning dates get pushed back.

Seeing as we've established that the Fair Usage Policy is probably the same for fiber as it is for ADSL and FTTC,

Their FUP is 1 TB. I emailed them about it. It was only brought up from 500 GB to 1 TB in the last few weeks.

It's certainly confusing but they are selling it as an unlimited package, as against other packages with monthly download/upload limits of 10, 30 GBs etc. per month for example, but with a fair usage policy of 1TB per month.

Quick google though says that 4k Netflix will eat 30Gb per hour so an hour of Netflix per evening will soon be up on 900Gb. Crazy numbers compared with what we have at the minute.

This weekends update is certainly causing even more confusion than before with regards to the FUP. The Eir Fibre Extreme page no longer exists and is now called 1000mb Fibre To The Home.

However on https://www.eir.ie/broadband/ it's still referred to as Eir Fibre Extreme.

All references of the 1000mb package now clearly states that is absolutely no usage limits. It's like as if there is a half finished website update.

Given the amount of places that it says unlimited on the website for FTTH, surely if someone was billed for going over the 1 TB FUP they could dispute it citing all the false (true?) info on the website about it being unlimited.

it really doesn't make sense that someone on 1meg ADSL has the same download allowance as someone on 100 FTTC and 1000 on FTTH.

The 'unlimited' plans we all knew about the FUP, but the website update over the weekend really gave hope, almost proof that there is no more fair usage policy. Even if they just allow the 1000 to be fully unlimited, that would be good enough for me. I would hate to pay a cent more for going over the limit, but would be perfectly happy going with the top tier 1000 package in order to gain true unlimited.

Having said that, it's actually hard enough to go past 1tb per month but the point is the freedom that no usage policy gives. I log in several times a day just to check my usage and it's 24 hours behind and I've no idea if my monthly usage is counted from the last day of the month or is it from the middle of each month when the account was setup.

Received a letter to the household today from eir regarding the new broadband. Unlimited is plastered all over it.

Miniscule print where a flea would need a magnifying glass to read states "fair usage policy applies. Visit eir.ie for more info".

No direct link, tiny wording on a black background. No asterisk sign next to unlimited wording and no direct link to policy.

To me that's false advertising that should be brought to the attention of the regulator.

I'm waiting for the backlash when my neighbours get their blistering 150 Mb service installed, and then complain that "the WiFi/Internet is worse than before" because Eir are using a rubbish router.
