Absolutely, unfortunately I couldn't make it last night but talking to one of the Tipp players father this morning and he was saying that only for the Tipp goalkeeper it would have been a masacare, he was very impressed with the Cork midfield.

Last year you had a very strong minor team underperform two years ago from what I can tell, lost out to the eventual champs in Killarney which is a tough place to go & got caught on the hop by a Kildare team that were average from what I could see when they played Kerry in Croker.

U21 - you've had some very good teams come through in recent years, this year probably being the weakest for a while, but there's definitely talent to bring through there to the senior setup. I don't think the u21 team last year has many world beaters, but there's raw materials to work with there.

Cork has a decent underage structure with good coaching, this doesn't translate up to the senior setups, which, to me, is a poor reflection of the coaching at those levels. Additionally, Junior is taken for granted in Cork in a big way. Junior & u21 should be seen as feeder teams for the senior & guys should be brought in from here to train with the seniors to be looked at, but also to encourage young players & fellas togging for junior, that they could be brought through. I think Kerry have used this to good effect the past few years - I believe Jordan Kiely from Crokes (who's u21 this year) togged with the juniors last year - more minutes in a Kerry jersey for him, more experience - things like that help players at u21 & senior level.

As has been mentioned a few times on this thread - there was a development plan brought out for Cork GAA that went nowhere which is a huge pity. I'm banging the same old drum - but having good players, good coaches or good facilities isn't enough anymore - you need a structured plan to make use of what you have & build on that. This is where the county board comes in and unfortunately for Cork GAA supporters - you've been massively let down by that body for many years now.

I was more talking about hurling. I think it was two years ago we wont u14/15/16 and 17 comps in the hurling but i understand your point. It still stands.

Couple of factors here to be considered though, last years Minor Hurlers were in all probability the second best team in the country, were desperately unlucky to have to play Tipp in the Munster Semi which if effectively the only knock out game in Munster!

The U14/15/16 competitions are a bit of a red herring to be honest, the entire competitions are played over one weekend, sometimes one day and are not a true reflection, Cork from what I seen the last few years have been fitter and managed their panels better that the opposition, that said there is obviously some very good talent there.

Interestingly not one single county has ever won the Tony Forristal All Ireland and went on to win the corresponding minor All Ireland which says it all really.

this yrs minors are the 1st of the proper development squads. They are strong from there down. The U16 Arrabawn is good predictor of who is strong at minor. Cork have been repeatedly poxed with Munster minor semi final draws recently which hasn't helped. A change in fortune is due.

Maybe it is the same in every county, but so few make the senior team from minor. Cork won a all Ireland minor football in 2000. Only 1 player was on the 2010 All Ireland senior, that was Noel O Leary. Do players just get too much of it.

Kk second goal was a bit of a joke. Thought there was a foul first, but the kk player certainly over carried. Big turning point as Cork were coming into it at the time and there was only a goal in it at the end.
Thought we aided the congestion of players around the kk goal throughout the second half. We should have pulled a few players outside the 21 and shot for points instead of briging it so close to where kk had the numbers. Plenty of blocked shots could have been points if we didn't try working it so close for a goal. Our subs did well and probably should have started. Kk will be the team to beat for sure but this Cork team will push them close.

Yeah it was a strange game as I thought Cork were the way better team but Kilkenny got goals at the right times. Cork started well and KK got a goal straight away. Then Cork were coming on strong again and they got another goal and that one was ridiculous.

Like ShamoBuc said, I couldn't understand why Cork kept running into the centre going for goal. 10 mins left and we were 4 points down.Cork were charging straight at groups of players like it was the final seconds.Just pop them over and it would have been almost a draw with a few mins left.

After the second goal went in, Cork switched things at the back as before that it always seemed to end up 2 v 2.

Kilkenny defend in massive bunches and work hard to close off any attempts at goal. To me they are perfect for defending a lead but if Cork were in front they would have been in big trouble.

Paudie should have been saying go down the wings and take your points. Too heavy traffic in the centre.Cork had a lot of wides and shots dropping short too.
