I have my card set up on android pay and it just says on the payment terminal that the card is unsupported, try another card.

Aib are telling me that each time the phone tries to make the purchase that it always gets declined because the expiry date is a few months out but I've set it up at least 4 times and I'm certain I've entered the correct details.

Arbie wrote: » Had my 1st refusal today, in a small hospital shop. The cashier said she wasn't trained. I showed her the app and the AIB card on the app but she wasn't for turning. I asked her to call her manager who straight away said it was OK. I totally understand the cashier's reluctance so I was very polite about it but I do think it's important to ask them to speak to a manager so the issue is resolved. She was actually very interested in it afterwards.

Its around for a good while and there are alot of ads around the place...

Arbie wrote: » I worked in a supermarket for years and you would be surprised how often people try to scam you or ask you to do something dodgy. The ones I can recall off the top of my head: - returning vodka bottles filled with water - trying to sell me (the cashier!) cigarettes at a discount, bought in duty free with Portuguese writing on the boxes - attempting to pay with a crossed personal cheque which had someone else's name on it and dated 2 years previously - handing in smudged Lotto tickets and claiming 5 numbers (happened a few times with the same woman) - topping up their phone and then coming in for a refund saying they had forgotten they were on another network, then when you say you have to ring the phone company to make sure the top-up hasn't been used they scarper, happened all the time So I completely understand employees being suspicious; it's really up to the managers to make sure everyone knows that phone payments exist and are safe, especially when you hear about cards being skimmed, etc. It's a bit surprising when someone hasn't heard of it but then again everyone on this thread is obviously interested in the scheme so we're biased and not reflective of the population. I know when the hurling all ireland is on but I wouldn't have a clue when the premier league matches take place, it's just not on my radar.
