That grey FTO looks as rough as a bear's arse. Must have a number of different shades of grey on it and lots of panels look misaligned. Says to me that car seen the wrong side of a ditch or wall at some part of it's life. Lancer style wheels don't inspire it either. Asking price is dreamer territory imo based on all that.

It's next to impossible to get them on classic insurance now AFAIK.

Very rare to see a 2.0 FTO without the sports package. The lack of a spoiler and alloys gives it novelty value, as does it's Irish history. Seeing that it was taxed for 12 months by the previous owner every year for over a decade inspires confidence
The seat wouldn't bother me as they're easily fixed, the front end of the car being a different shade of grey would though.

MIVEC is the way to go with these at this stage. If you're gonna be killed on insurance regardless of engine you may as well go for the best one.

Price and NCT are good, so as long as the car checks out it's a good price for this time of year IMO. The car has been for sale for a good while and has been reduced in price so they may be willing to go down a good bit more.

(It could be me, but are those panel gaps a bit big?)

Early 1.4's in the pre facelift mk1's(the ones with the silver top and the cover over the plugs) is less prone to burning oil than the later facelifts with the blacktop engine but they do still burn a drop for sure.

Rust is actually less common on the earlier models. The facelift is far more prone to rust.

They are underpowered on paper but in everyday driving they are adequate and they don't really feel that underpowered in day to day driving. It's only when.you drive the 1.6(which isn't that powerful either tbh) is when.you notice the difference.

Anyway that doesn't matter to most people. The 1.4 is cheaper to run and the hatchback is a much nicer car and that is why they are far more popular and easier to sell.

Lovely car, one owner from new. Take the tax into account and he's looking for â‚¬650 net.

One owner from new with full years tax would give me a lot of confidence in it. Classic tax as a 2nd car should be no bother as it's over 20 years of age.

Its not a great ad with only two pics but looking for 1100 with over half a years tax which is worth 400, NCT til next Feb, and one owner from new means it was likely kept good care of, I think its a bargain. Be great if you could get classic insurance on it.

Sold my 2000 Focus (petrol) for 500 euro a couple of days ago if that helps. It had over 170K miles but had NCT and Tax until next March so that obviously helped.

It sold within a couple of hours of going up on DD. I didn't even get a chance to post it here.

300 to 500 be about right. Its a 1.4 which is a poor engine and very few will bite due to this and age due to insurance and older cars.

I posted a few weeks ago about having picked up an '07 Volvo S40 for bangernomics money. Only had 5 months test on it.

Did a general service, and put four GoodYear tyres on it and decided to chance the NCT. Failed on a rear seat belt buckle.

â‚¬5 for the part from Kilcock and drove it back for a free visual, leaving the test centre with a two year Cert valid until mid 2019! A big thank you to Shietpilot for his help.

As I was so chuffed, today I got a stainless steel exhaust systemput on it to really let the 5 cylinder engine warble. Absolutely delighted.
