Awful news, probably doesn't get the credit he deserved for winning the Gold Cup. Still to this day i think he beat Kauto Star in the Betfair chase. RIP

He's around 330,000 down at the moment but looking at Fairyhouse and Punchestown coming up and the likely markets for the Irish National and Grade Ones and going off what they both won outside those races last year, I have Mullins coming out on top by about 120,000 - and that's being very generous to Elliott as I calculated that he will win every race at Limerick and Wexford this week and Tramore next week. Mullins will have the fav in the two Grade Ones at Fairyhouse (Augusta Kate/Let's Dance and Yorkhill). At Punchestown he will have favs in Melon (or 2nd fav), Un de Sceaux, Bellshill, Penhill, Great Field, Nichols Canyon, Annie Power, Let's Dance, 2nd favs Arctic Fire, VVM/Limini, Bapaume/Meri Devie. I have Elliott down for winning the two valuable bumpers at Fairyhouse and Punchestown. The fly in the ointment is the Irish National and at the moment going by the markets, I have Noble Endeavor 3rd and The Crafty Butcher 7th picking up prize money. Elliott will have to win the Irish National to win the title I think. I've already backed Haymount myself at 25/1. I've backed Mullins at 2/1 anyway because I don't think the market realises how much money is still left to play for and that WPM is going to be winning most of it.

Atm Elliott will have a projected lead of around €40,000 tomorrow night (that's with Mullins having 2nd and 3rd in the Champion Hurdle). Mullins has a strong enough hand then on Saturday in the 2 Grade Ones and The Crafty Butcher, Renneti and Thomas Hobson in the handicaps to turn it around (and that's even if Apple's Jade wins). I would still have Mullins as marginal fav. If Djakadam and Nichols Canyon had won it would be game over already. I'm not joking but I honestly think the title will depend on whether Labaik jumps off. If he doesn't jump and Mullins wins the Champion Hurdle then WP has it won.
