That was some score Bobby Duggan got when he came on and shows that ye have options if ye can put it all together. Big test for Clare is the defense this year and it failed at the weekend. Half backline named before didn't inspire confidence, something more will need to be found there I feel. Think though with the Munster draw and the right management team involved ye have a chnace to have a good championship. If ye beat Limerick, only 2 Munster finalists in the last 10 years have failed to make the all ireland semi finals so that would in theory give ye a good chance of progressing much further than ye have since 2013.

Our half forward line and midfield are playing way too deep which is taking pressure off opposition defenders clearing the ball and is forcing us to run the ball out of defence. This is not what the management want at all. Aaron Cunningham came on instead of ian galvin last week and his first action was to turn up at left corner back trying to block someone down ffs. I started watching him a bit after that to see how he was ending up back so far. at one stage Waterford had a sideline cut about 50 from our goals on the stand side. he was standing between the two seventys towards the covered terrace with no one paying any attention to him and a space of about 50 yards in front of him totally empty. if he had simply walked out to the sideline onto waterfords 70 he would have been in a massive amount of space instead he ran back to about 35 yards out from our goals . It was bananas to watch a forward run away from space near the opposition goals while unmarked into space in our defence when he wasn't picking up anyone at all. if he stayed there and we won the ball he would have been in a position to take a free strike from 50 yards out off his strong side and maybe even in a position to go all the way as none of the Waterford half back line would be catching Cunningham with a head start I am not picking on Cunningham as they are all doing it. Podge is getting great praise and he is hurling well but if he turns up looking for a handpass off the full back line moloney or o connor should meet him with a sally rod and beat him back over the half way line

Twiceasnice97 wrote: » are you off your head? do you seriously think any decent clareman would fail to react to that year? Waterford were used by the munster council to get at loughnane by suspending a player. That incident has nothing whatsoever to do with lynch being suspended. It was a later incident between browne and lynch that Dickie murphy saw and reported to barrett advising him to book both of them which he did and which was put in the refs report. There is no video evidence of the incident. the evidence which was accepted was from a tipp man on the munster council who was sitting in the vip seats and had no role on the day and that was deemed to be have more weight than the ref and his linesman two of the strongest refs in the country at the time loughnane published the report in his book. I met barrett , ironically in Dungarvan, and he reckoned the worst mistake he ever made in his refereeing career was allowing a busybody from the munster council to delay the throw in that day trying to get him to make loughnane and mac along with McCarthy and ahearne to sit down while behind his back the players got stuck into each other all over the field.
mountgomery burns wrote: » As for your rant, well I can understand the issues with that. But for what he did at the throw in, he deserved a lengthy ban even if it came about in the wrong manner. I'll say no more.
Barbie!sBitch wrote: » If you can tell me what action he took at the throw in that warranted a lengthy ban I'd really appreciate it. First "belt" on Browne was a result of Browne stepping in between Lynch and the ball, using your body to block an opponent is technically a foul so that's a free for Clare. Next "belt" was against Baker which might have missed, but not a foul. The third "belt" was against Quelly and was given as a foul by the ref, as the ref has actioned the third act it couldn't result in further action. I don't think anyone in Clare would say that Lynch didn't deserve to be suspended for his actions that day, but the throw in wasn't the problem and wasn't what he was suspended for, he was suspended for something that there wasn't any proof against.

Staying up was always the focus and they achieved this, even if just on scoring differences, big bonus that some new players got valuable game time. The hurlers stayed up and had some mixed performances, now they have a 2 month break to focus on the main event of the summer.

O'Brien's injury is such a tough one for us and also becuase it means that David Mc is probably going to play in the full back line, where his attacking game is restrained. Its good that we stayed up though. While there's alot of competition for places, there's a feel that the team is unsettled. I think most can pick 12/13 of the starters but where we play them is tricky. I feel June 4th will be.. Fahey Dmac Dillon POC McCarthy/Bugs Cleary Fitz Galvin Kelly Conlon Podge Malone Reidy Shanagher McGrath One of the corners may switch to full back.
