Ive noticed it before but George has Shane Coleman on to make him look like a conservative, its quite funny. Coleman saying kids shouldnt be watching porn and that he will be called a prude fro saying this. What weird feckin company is he keeping? Everyone agrees children shouldnt be watching hardcore porn but how to go about it without completely isolating the kid is the thing. Coleman on his we should do something but he has no viable idea. George speaking a bit of sense on this, Its nearly impossible to restrict a kid while allowing him access to the technology to see porn.

I have no doubt that George only raised (pardon the pun) the topic and invited shane in to call him a conservative and piss him off a little

I should probably mention that once I heard him going down that route, it quite literally took me less than five seconds, probably closer to three seconds, to find that the attacker was from Britain. So it is literally the case that there is actually zero research done before he starts.

I was wondering yesterday how much do TV license inspectors get paid. I was thinking if there was 10 and they earned 35k, that it costs not RTE but An Post(another public service claiming they can't make ends meet due to operations costs), 350,000 plus expenses to go around and inspect peoples licenses. Then I found an article in the Irish Times from 2015 saying the cost of collecting the license is in the region of 12 million. :eek:

What do they do with it all I wondered but you've answered that. Paying people who push paper all day but due to increments and bonuses for showing up, earn more than a senior software engineer

George just compared the terrorist attacks to Pearl Harbour. The guy on is talking about the sensationalist way media reports on these attacks and plays into the hands of terrorists. George just saying would you not show the pearl harbour attacks. Jesus he is bad.

Georges whole show is about sensationalist reporting.

What does 'British Born' mean? Does it just mean British?

You can be British 'born' but not of Britain. The unpalatable truth is that there are parts of Britain that are far removed from the mainstream and populated by people who have no loyalty to the country of their birth. Same is happening here but it's not pc to mention it.

Do you mean all those British people in Ireland? lots of them born here but still would consider themselves British.

You can be as un pc as you like (dependent on boards.ie rules I presume) but people will challenge you on it. That is all that will happen. People need to stop using pc as a term to end arguments on all sides.

I noticed that Hook objected to the term " committing suicide" today.Now that maybe is because he claims to have attempted it himself on( off the pier in Dun Laoghaire or Howth) when he went bankrupt and is sensitive to the term....but I though,albeit without any surprise, this guy is being a little hypocritical given his usual blathering about PC terms and the malinged 'language police'

How do you define 'of Britian'? Does it relate to the colour of your skin?

I hear RTE continuing the 'British born' line tonight. Why can't they just say that he's from Kent, as they would for anyone else?

Interesting observation.. but I don't think the point is lost that all this railing about PC is very selective.The characterization of the Irish as being stupid ,drunk and lazy for example (though rarely heard across the water any more)would surely raise the heckles of of our full blooded ' anti PC brigade '.

Very interesting little bit there by Hook and Kelly. She was saying that I know you arent a sexist because I have worked beside you for 10 years and no one has done more for my career. George quickly said lets skip that/move on. Shows many things, George is playing a character, Ciara Kelly has put in her time with Hook to get her own show playing along with his character.

Didnt see brendan O connor last night, how was George. He usually puts on a better performance on telly as it isnt his own show

Long time listeners have put up with it for years because, they have figured out that he was playing up

Sure, he was one of the first supporters to call for Gay Marriage etc. He never stops talking about his failures , his past as a business person, homelessness etc, and he was serious about his Hatti work. He might be hard to deal with, but there seems to be a good soul in the man. At least he ain't bland

It was weird to hear them going off script today. I would say she will get a talking too. Georges whole character is for him to be in opposition to the mainstream opinion and a voice for the 'silent majority'

Im not sure his mini feud with sexton is faked. He has been very quiet on that front since the almost court case

When George started the midday slot, I found him very hard to listen to but now he's one of my favourite broadcasters. His style is totally unique - reminds me a bit of David Hanly on Morning Ireland many years ago...a bit gruff and grumpy but very entertaining.
