The last thread was nearing the 10k post limit so here's part 3.

The same rules as the last thread apply here. People seem to have strong opinions either way when it comes to McGregor and threads here tend to get a bit heated from time to time. Please keep it civil and discuss all things Conor in a mature way.

Lads consider this the one and only warning - big fight with a lot of hype around it. It brings new fans to the forum as well as the regulars so try and get along. Any trolling or nonsense and people will find themselves on a break from the forum and that applies to everyone.

Strange post but I agree with nearly everything he said in it. I'm just scratching my head why he mentioned Kevin Iole, who was just stating a fact that there was a big promotional push by Top Rank for his debut.

I suppose the upside to writing a (very good) book is making lots of money from it. The downside is the need to promote the thing either by saying stupid sh1t to generate headlines (Meryl Streep) and/or devoting a lot of time to book tours, speaking engagements etc.

We're probably looking at the latter here.

I've a feeling Bob is guesstimating there. He wouldn't be privy to any negotiations between Mayweather and McGregor.

He may well be right that if the fight doesn't go ahead it's down to the UFC but I doubt he know's the % breakdowns.

As sources go I'd say Bob's a pretty strong one, he'll know people at the top table in Vegas.

The commision bending over backwards this week to accommodate McGregor was pretty embarrassing and transparent (though just as likely bending over to accommodate Floyd for this farce of a fight).

MMA media and talking heads are convincing themselves that Conor has a chance here. Floyd has dealt with more skilled boxers and bigger hitters before. He may be 40 years old now, but he lives the life.

While its very much a Conor McGregor world we are living in, where his boasts come true. This is utter BS as a contest.

Can't take anything Arum says about Dana seriously and vice versa. Dana has on multiple occasions called Arum the "biggest dirtbag" and "biggest scumbag" in all of sports. Also, in a textbook case of irony, Dana called Arum "A greedy pig" in 2011.

There's no love lost on either end. That being said, would it be plausible for the UFC to take 50% of Conor's action on the fight? Sure! Fair? Actually, in the circumstances, probably - given his alternatives are messy.

Conor can't do this fight without the UFC anytime soon. The best he could do is take the UFC to court to have his contract ruled unenforceable and seek declaratory relief under the Ali Act but that would be tied up in litigation for years.

So, the UFC are in a strong leverage position here to say to Conor: "ok fight Floyd in September if you want but we're splitting it 50-50 take it or leave it."

Things will only get messy if Conor refuses to wear and promote Reebok and/or Monster for the Floyd fight but I think his relationship with Reebok and Monster is solid enough that he won't go seeking to make deals with their rivals for the fight.

Just sign the fight, do the deal and let the UFC try and sue him for it, he'd be 100% protected under the Ali act. Tell the UFC to go and ****e. Sure his MMA career would be over, but who gives a feck at this stage.

What he will do, give them a piece of the pot, make it a co-promotion between Floyd, Conor and the UFC with the money being split in that order with Floyd getting the biggest wedge, Conor the next and the UFC what's left and publicity.

I and most mma fans would give a f**k because I'd like to see him fight in the UFC again. What i don't give a f**k about is his bank balance. Conor is not family so his bank balance is of no concern for me.

He's estimated to have earned $50 million from his last 4 fights. Why not retire now? If $50 million isn't enough, then why is $100 million? Those cars and houses aren't cheap and the Nevada State Commission revealed he bought that house in Vegas for millions.

Conor loves fighting & money and if you follow his Twitter and public statements, you'll see he's obsessed with Billionaires. Whether it's Billionaire mindsets, Vince, the Fertittas, his goal (seemingly) is to become a billionaire. Outlandish goal, of course, but he's set himself a ton of outlandish goals over the years and achieved them.

More than all of the above, his passion in life is Mixed Martial Arts. If he was to retire in the morning from pro fighting I'd bet money that he'd still be down the gym rolling and sparring. I think people overplay the money side of it largely because Conor overplays it himself. But the reality is he loves fighting and loves the big fight nights under the bright lights.

There will be many more years and big fights in the UFC regardless of what happens with Floyd. He wants to be remembered as the very best and, to that end, I believe 1 of his next 2 fights in the UFC will be challenging for the Welterweight title: 3-weight-world-champion would an achievement very hard to repeat.

To be fair we should all laugh at it.

It should never be sanctioned. He doesn't have a hope in hell of lasting 12 with any world class boxer in his weight class. Just like no boxer has a hope of lasting in an mma fight in his weight class.

The Floyd fight is only a cash grab. Screw this fight, I want to see Conor in the UFC fightoing asap and this fight just prolongs the amount of time he will be out of MMA.

If you think that's a cash grab, you should see the reaction to his latest "venture". Partnering with some London car dealership to, quote, "bring high end luxury motors to Irish shores". It went down like a lead balloon and prompted an article in The Sun slating him. I'm not sure what reaction he was looking for, he knows none of his fans have €300,000 for a new lambo and he should know our roads & weather are not designed for these supercars.

He ended his post with the now obligatory "Something BIG is coming". The last "something big" was Mac Life Fast which priced out most of his fans from a fitness program. He's obviously investing in an SBG Concorde expansion too but I wouldn't call that 'big'.

Note to Conor: Watch the Father Ted episode with the cows. One is small. One is very far away. Then apply something similar to yourself. You're filthy rich. For the rest of us it's very far away.

You'd have to question who is advising him. I'm not suggesting he turns into a bleeding heart Mother Theresa type but it wouldn't do him any harm to turn his focus to something his fans could even consider getting on board with. So far it's been dodgy stock trading apps, luxury cars, luxury fitness programs, PPV interviews.....On top of that his fans were priced out of UFC 205 and will be seriously priced out of the Floyd fight where the worst tickets will be over $2,000.

Slippery slope.
