Herring Gulls at Bray Harbour last week - one with a plastic bag and the other with a disposable plastic razor. The issue of plastic litter and pollution is a big one for marine birds and wildlife. They often ingest it, or get caught in it, resulting in death sooner or later. It usually occurs far out at sea where we don't notice it - this case was a little bit more blatant! There is ongoing research in GMIT looking at the extent of plastic ingestion by seabirds:

Reviewing old pics I found this. Not sure if it fits with the theme of this thread?

    was that taken with flash?

    Nope

But strong sunlight from behind camera

Exif on all my photos is available by clicking on the image and viewing exif data on the relevant Flickr image.
That would include whether or not flash was used

I was thinking female Linnet, but could be wrong!

Apologies lads - I should be at the stage where I can make a decision myself rather than throwing it out there

And if I had looked back on a photo two frames ahead -but from a longer distance( now zoomed in Bigly) I think I would have named it as the consensus does here

    Female Chaffinch

Maybe my eyes are deceiving me, but that doesn't look like a female Chaffinch. I still think it's a female Linnet. I can't see the white bars on the wings that a female Chaffinch would have. If you look at the buff coloured bar/band under the eye of this bird, that's something you see on female Linnets.
