If the latter, tell them not to go near the car and that you'll take the kit and apply it yourself. You dont want someone applying it that doesnt know what they are doing. It isnt fantastic, but as you say, it wont do any harm....if it were me, I'd ask for 50 quid off, and apply something proven!
