Also if the tar runs but doesn't come off, I will echo punisher in saying don't rub. Reapply the tar remover and gently wipe.

Any interest here in opening up a sub-forum where members could sell or swap their own personal detailing supplies. I'm sure most people on here have partially used products that they'd like to move on to make room for something else.
I've some stuff that just don't work for me and then I've some surplus due to having bought the latest thing only to find it does the same job as what I was already using : )

Why don't you start a facebook page for it?

If a product doesn't work.....why would someone else want it? :P

There's normally nothing wrong with the product - it just doesn't work as good as other things. What works for one person might not do so for another.
Forums are full of posts where someone is singing the praises of a certain wax or whatever and for other people it's just meh for the same product.

Not a bad point!

The crux of the issue though is that as was mentioned above, Adverts was given as the answer to your question.

I think it is a great idea.

I have most of a bottle of Carpro Perl That I don't want. A lot of people think it's great (apparently). Didn't work for me at all!

I'll bring it to the next motors meet actually and anyone who wants it is more than welcome to it

I thought it was an idea that could work on a forum like this where there's a congregation of like minded (slightly obsessed?) people who like clean shiny cars : )

I tend to keep stuff not sure of for a low stock day unless I think it really sucks then I do 1 of 2 things give it to someone I know who not interested in detailing or bin it.

There is an Irish detailing page on the Facebook could try your luck on.

Couple of other forums have a thread for buying/selling swaps. Need permission from the powers that be. Usual rules, usually confined to regular posters, dealings must be in thread not pms. I'm sure it could be use full I'd imagine a lot of lads have amassed more than they can use/moved onto different products.

Not enough traffic here for a sub forum I'd say a single thread would be enough.

Yep maybe there isn't much traffic and it's a small enough community here but I still reckon it'd be the best place to try and sell or swap stuff. At least it'd be getting viewed by people with similar levels of OCD.

Getting a new Octavia in a few months and have gone for cloth interior over leather this time around. Any suggestions on treating seats and keeping them clean? Are there wipes like the Dr leather ones available for fabric?

Also the dealer threw in the autoglym lifetime treatment with the car.. I wasn't to pushed about it but I suppose it can't do any harm?

Protect the seats straight away - something like CarPro Fabric Coat or Gtechniq I1 - this will help prevent anything being absorbed into the fabric - if you split something, it will give you enough time to soak it up with something else, assuming you've something else to hand.

No, there is really anything you can do with fabric in terms of maintenance wipes.

He threw it in...for you to apply or they'll apply it? If the latter, tell them not to go near the car and that you'll take the kit and apply it yourself. You dont want someone applying it that doesnt know what they are doing. It isnt fantastic, but as you say, it wont do any harm....if it were me, I'd ask for 50 quid off, and apply something proven!

They going to apply it... Id feel bad going back about it now.. I'll get the fabric protection spray... Is the CarPro smelly? Apparently the Gtechniq one is...

I'd feel worse going back asking for a paint correction!

I couldnt say CarPro Fabric Coat is smelly, though any time Ive used it, it has been in a well ventilated area.

Autoglym Lifeshine comes with fabric protection.

We got the Golf Lifeshined and as expected, the stuff on the outside seems to have made no difference whatsoever really, beading stopped around a month in, but I believe that there is an argument to say that just because beading has stopped it doesn't mean the protection is gone.

Aaaannnyway, to cut to the chase the fabric protection is the best bit of the Lifeshine imo. For some unfortunate reason the missus insists that our collie terrier x travels on the back seats and he often gets into the car after walks drenched in **** which he duely dispenses onto the seats despite me setting down towels etc.

I'm still in astonishment 6 months later at how the seats are completely stain free. Nothing sticks to them, nothing at all. You can wring a cloth onto them and it beads up on the seat. Muck just vacuums off. Really impressed by it and I was expecting it to be completely useless.

Washed, polished and waxed the motor on Thursday. She is looking sweet.
A job I wanted to do for a long time was get the rear arch liners out and washed.
Neighbours probably think I'm insane hoovering the rear suspension ...........
Some Piles of muck behind the arches.
Still need to get to the front ones.

do you have the carpro fabric protector in stock? I also noticed chemical guy do a protector spray to. Are they all similar in what they do?

Just a quick question with regards beading. So after it rains my car beads and that's obviously a great sign it's protected. However when it dries naturally then it leaves little dirt circle marks everywhere where there was beading. Is that normal? Doesn't look great!

It is normal MuddyDog. When water evaporates it contains dust/dirt from the ground which is then in the rain when it falls. It happens with rain/dew/snow/frost. It's a PITA for sure but not much can be done about it. You *could* use a quick detailer on the car but it's not advisable as the dust can scratch your paintwork when you wipe it off.

Dont have the CarPro in stock - ordered, but wont be here for a week or more!
The CG's one, wouldnt be as advanced, or as durable - Ive had mixed feedback on it...but its hard to know if they poor feedback was down to poor usage / poor prep.

Thanks let me know when the CarPro is in and I'll order it. Car isn't due till may so lots of time..

Have noticed that rust is starting to form on the arm between the alloy spokes and the brake discs. Any way to get rid of it and prevent it? I'm in a hard water area so am assuming me washing the car and not drying cleaning this area has caused it?

That's the brake disc hub. The only way to get rid of that is to paint them.

I am in the same boat,
got new disks all round about a month ago.
Different brands front and back and they are rusted to fook.
going to have to paint them.

I've read that you can paint up a little onto the disk and let the pad take off the paint so you get a perfect circle.

Don't want to go making a new thread - but got paid today and want to treat myself to a few bits, got a silver focus in January (attached old pics) and wondering what'd be good purchases.

Thinking Bilt Hamber Clay (I tried claying with a small bar I got in Halfords Mcguiers? - but want to get a proper one!), some tar remover and snow foam ('I've a karcher) and the Dry Me Crazy towel which seems to be recommended a fair bit.

But as regards to some sort of Wax or Sealant? What'd be good for a silver car like this?
