Rescue 116 Crash at Blackrock, Co Mayo(Mod note in post 1)

Contact lost just before 0100 off the west coast of Achill island on a rescue mission.
Search in progress including all available ships and Rescue 115.

Hopefully a positive outcome to this.

Please keep replies civil, and respectful of the crew and their families.

Please do not speculate as to any cause unless you have a factual basis to do so (and can back it up with information released to the public).

There will be zero tolerance for troublemakers or those that choose to ignore these guidelines.

Until there is, I think expressions of "RIP" etc are a little bit premature.

I remember the similar event in tramore waterford back in the early 90's.

I've nothing but admiration for these tireless heroes. Very sad altogether.

Awful news, a huge loss. Those people impact so many people's lives in such difficult conditions. I hope they can discover what happened.

Looks like it spent about 40 minutes searching the area in the early hours of the morning, on its way back from the fishing vessel rescue.

They had been out since 2am searching for their colleagues, time to let another unit take over. Their colleague was recovered by lifeboat and she may have been brought to Castlebar, which might be why they are there at present.
