...I see so many threads about the "met a girl on Tinder/worst/best sexual encounter, great/bad first dates stuff", so here's the other experience.

Heading up to bed now, it's 25 years since we first hooked up, she is still the most beautiful woman I know, the few grey hairs make her even more attractive. And she will leave for work in the morning at 7am and the bed will seem so lonely without her.

So any boringly humdrum stories like mine, or am I in the minority?

You are not on your own there Lexie, Mrs E almost always falls asleep during a film. She did it on our very first date to the cinema, and that was back when they used to have two films on, not just the one like nowadays.

Together nearly 10 years, married 3. Baby on the way.

Every evening, whoever is home first will run to greet the other with a hug.

We hold hands while watching tv and randomly text "Love you!" all the time.

For this years valentine's day, I created a treasure hunt for her in the house that led to chocolate, a present, and a card. She cried at the romance!

In the cold light of day, sitting at the desk at work...I stand over every word! The days of getting home at 5am, crashing out in the couch or spare room, are a distant memory...fun at the time but ultimately pointless and now there's a certain "what was I doing"...

You get to a stage in life where sincerity is appreciated. I'm far more likely to say things now than I would have 10 years ago. So I'm comfortable saying my wife is amazing. On the flip side, I'm also comfortable telling people when I don't like them or their opinions/actions. I like this phase!

10 years together this Summer. Married 2. One 6 year old maniac and another on the way.

We've had our ups and downs but we're still together. Life is simple and peaceful.

I can't say I owe her my life. But I certainly owe her my happiness. I think if I missed out on her, I'd have settled for something less. Funnily enough the biggest thing isn't the thought I'd have married someone less attractive - though that would have been inevitable - it's that I'd have married someone less...challenging, less intelligent and engaging.

Just over three years with OH now so still early days.
But with a teen and preteen between us, ex drama and long term illness plus redundancy to deal with, we're still blissfully happy and close.
And it never felt like hard work even when it was because we just have such good craic together.

He's a dote really.

People say this to my fella too. An astonishing amount. Why is it totally OK and socially acceptable and considered banter to say to a guy and not a woman?

In truth I'm the lucky one. I'm a lot to deal with most of the time, somehow in life I learned to be guarded and introverted and a bit negative about things at times. He's not afraid to call me on my bullsh1t but will never let a day go by without telling me how much he loves me and how beautiful I am.

We're very different and he wears his heart on his sleeve but I've learned a lot from him that way. And he makes me laugh until my stomach aches every single day.

I had no interest in relationships with anybody but she changed my mind..always supportive , kind and great company.
pleasing on the eye and being up for cuddles helps too
