We see this at Belfast City, too, BA tend to preemptively cancel flights throughout the day to prevent knock-on with the rest of their schedule. Whereas FlyBE keep plugging away as best they can, which is great for originating passengers but causes chaos down the schedule.

As for Boeings v Airbus in crosswinds, bear in mind that neither company has done full envelope exploration; the highest they each encountered during testing was 33 knots ( 737NG & A320 ), so they booked that as the 'maximum demonstrated'. Well in excess of certification requirements, so why spend more money unless a customer stumps-up the cash for further work?

Still in Shannon at the moment. It's one of two 'oil spill response' 727's operated by T2 Aviation. They have an 'oil dispersant spray system' installed.

RWY16 in use this morning, although UA22 is opting for RWY28. Winds look like staying favourable for RWY16 until around Midday when the wind should switch to around 240 degrees which is favourable for RWY28.

Something gone around at Dublin, can't see it on radar so not exactly sure what it is. Edit: It was BE6963 from Inverness.

Current wind 210 degrees 32kts gusting 41kts, AA723 have informed ATC that the max gust they can accept is 31kts from 210 degrees.

Are the company limits for American quite low in comparison to other airlines?

I left my spot north of Rwy 16 around 40 minutes ago and the wind had increased noticeably since I arrive there. I'm home now and the winds have gone up another step since. No big surprise that this'll impact on operations.

The 11am TAF changes the forecast (less definitive), saying that winds gusting up to 48kts are possible between 12pm-2pm.

Rain is just arriving in Dublin now which could mess things up with a wet runway.
