Welcome to the Mayo GAA discussion thread.

This is one of the most active forums on Boards.ie. As a result, discussion can get quite heated. But there are certain things posters must realise are simply not OK to post:

- Personal abuse of anyone be they other posters, players, managers, referees, pundits etc. Any personal abuse will result in an infraction or a ban.

- Rumours about players'/managers'/anyone's personal lives. This should be self explanatory. Apart from being a dickish thing to do, it can lead to legal trouble for Boards.

- Trolling. Again, self explanatory. Trolls will be banned for a long time.

- Accusations of trolling. Report a post if you suspect it to be trolling. Do not call a troll out on thread as this will be considered back seat modding.

- Speculation into the identity of another poster. This is a site-bannable offence.

This list is not exhaustive. Either myself or another mod may add to this as we see fit. Just because a certain behaviour isn't listed, doesn't mean you can't be banned for it.
The general Boards.ie rule of Don't be a Dick always applies.

If you feel a post breaks the rules, simply click the red triangle underneath the post in question to report the post and a mod will deal with it as they see fit.

So be civil to each other and happy posting.

I should add however that Roscommon were poor enough. While I do enjoy it when Mayo beat them it's not great signs for them and I'd rather have them competitive than not, as long as it's not at our expense.

Am I the only one seeing problems here.

Kerry could have scored 3/4 goals in the first half. A terrible Ross side had 3/4 1 on 1s!! There's gaps there! Serious gaps!!

When we play Dublin, even though they're not focusing on goals, more so possession, they could open us up. And I mean big time!

On the positive, Conor Loftus looked excellent! A real forward! The instinct was there!

12 different scorers, something like 16 of the 20 scores from play.

They are not stats you hear much about Mayo.

Good to get the win, make no mistake about it though it's only February and Roscommon are brutal.

4 points is not enough to secure Div 1 status but it goes all long way towards it.

Lovely boost tonight it was a beautiful game of football to watch. Everything seemed to work like a well oiled machine and Clarkes saves were magnificent.

Roscommon were gone from 5 minutes in but in all fairness and respect to them they kept going without decending the game into a fracca like "them up there" would have done. They seemed tired or resigned, but I hope they get themselves together for the championship and bring it on.

Kicked an absolutely sublime ball into space for COC who shoud have passed to Reagan but still, was wonderful awareness from him

Why don't you ask him yourself? Maybe he has other commitments than football of a Sunday....

The reason that the Rossie's were poor was that their midfield was non existent. It changed a little in second half when the full forward came out to midfield.

Their were completely out maneuvered, out smarted and out muscled at midfield. Our dominance was reflected in this area at half time.

It could be a long year for Roscommon after such high hopes last year. They need Kilbride back pronto.

We will play a dedicated sweeper and more than likely McLoughlin. He is playing very well in his natural position though... Maybe DOC to fill that role or overall more disciplined approach in defence. The Dubs will gobble up those chances. When Boyle went off it affected the shape too

I hope it's not McLoughlin, he's too valuable where he is and is back showing good form... my money is on Vaughen being thrown in there to see how it works.

I thought the half forward line last night worked very well. All three of McLoughlin Boland and COC can deliver good ball. Boland reminds me of a young Alan Dillon. The creativity from this line far exceeded what we're used to.

The highlight of the night for me is the fact than Adam Gallagher is now fit enough to re-join the panel. It was a desperate pity that he got badly injured in one of his first competitive games for the seniors. From what I saw of him before his injury, he'll be a massive addition to the team.

Cillian seems to be all over the field, sweeping at full back at one stage last night.
Could there be a plan to deploy Aidan at FF when he's back, with Cillian landing in more accurate ball he can win and bury in the net?

I said the same last night
Aidan and Andy in 2 man full forward line

Jason gibbons back is another very good option midfield so frees Aidan to move into forward line

Roscommon were awful, so it's hard to judge exactly where we are. We won't get that kind of space against better teams. Next weekend will be a real test for the likes of Boland. Not sure how Newcombe will get on, thought he struggled last night.

One thing for sure, Mayo need to beat dublin next weekend....Go all out. I think it is important to get out the right side of them after the last few losses and it will be a huge experience for Boland, Loftus etc. This unbeaten run needs to be fully cracked now and although Donegal looking good at the moment, I still expect Dublin to come back.

If the beat Dublin next weekend, they should go to win the League.

Ya AOS at FF is the only place for him but they need to improve the supply to him and in turn he needs to improve his runs (like Andy does). I would be slightly worried about Andy having the legs especially once you hit Croke park in August.

mayo were good last night but against a weak roscommon team. great to see all the different scorers but it will be toatally diffrent nxt week.

I`m not too sure on that count.

I think Dublin's unbeaten run is there for the taking, I'm not sure how important it is to Dublin either, but as another poster suggested two draws in a row may refocus them.

Not just two draws, but they've been poor the last two matches too. I'm sure they'll be looking to get a hold of things next time.
