Dear God - Hook is running some sort of competition for Valentine's Day and the prize is dinner with Hook and the 'lovely' Ingrid in Bistro One in 'leafy' Foxrock. Can you imagine? Hook will probably leave the lucky winners to pick up the bill. As for 'leafy' Foxrock - so passé; my family left it in 1947 as it was getting so developed that it was neither town nor country. Hook wouldn't like that in his snobby Semi-D shoebox.

God, George is some coward. Vegan campaigner on and she simply outlined the facts about what is involved in modern industrial agriculture in Ireland. When pushed, about this reality- George was saying no I dont want to tell my grandchildren truth. I'm going to hide reality from them. This was nearly as bad as his belief that we are by nature, all carnivores similar to lions and cheetahs. The day I see George running through the fields on all 4, using his finger nails and teeth to bring down a cow, and eat the raw flesh, at that point I will admit veganism is not natures way for us primates

Yeh agreed Peter- he has sweet Flick all to say about the glorious leader Trump and the mess he is in with Flynn- and chucking that clown out of his clown car. Few weeks back Hook was laughing at idea of Russians influencing Trump. And now it turns out to be worse than anyone could have imagined. And as you said- we get one of George's buddies from the golf club complaining about music. If you had to listen to some old lads like that the music would be a blessing!

George was just rude to the lady when he is not interested in something he is dismissive and ignorant. Then the american woman came on and he was all over her like a rash. Then again today that other shock jock from the states both berating veganism. May their arteries fill with animal fat and give them uncomfortabke health problems a little less meat wouldnt hurt anyone we consume far too much

Ah come on. Every so often Michael Graham comes across almost reasonable. That might happen about twice per year and it's usually when the other guest / caller comes across as completely ridiculous. Today was one of those occasions.

I didnt hear yesterday's interview but I agreed with them about militant veganism.

I tried it for health reasons for about 18 months and it was hell. Impractical and tedious.

Everything from toothpaste and shower gel to chewing gum contains animal products. They can't even get sloshed without considering it.

How Morrissey still has a sense of humour after all these years I'll never know!

I dip my hat on your effort, and agree, it sometimes take work- but overall there is not a day I would consider going back to eating meat.
Most vegans are happy just getting on with making it all work. The thing that we find extreme is when we learn about the truth and reality behind modern industrialised agriculture in Ireland. The scale of production and the extreme suffering metted out along the way. The thing about George's discussion, and bringing on Michael Graham, was it just turned into a big session of what-aboutery. A fly on his leg/ cheetahs in the savannah/ giving cows driving licences. It;s easy to ridcule the value of other animals lives as George did-over the last 2 days.
But this lack of empathy for the suffering and well-being of all life on this planet, starts with George on his dinner plate- and ends with a lack of compassion for refugees fleeing war and chaos in the Middle East.
I dont expect George to change his spots at this age- but there is always hope,

no, i'm saying that every life is valuable and once you start finding ways to discount or diminish that, its easy to say well hard luck but im not gonna help refugees- they are too different to us. as george often does.
Compassion is a wonderful thing. George changed topic when tackled with the idea that a mother cow might care for her young, same as his response to the idea that young refugees, women and children need help.
same as he hasnt had much to say about the Ottowa mosque attack. Compare this to the long tear filled monologues after some other attacks/ Trumps victory. Hook as a heart alright- just chooses when to use it.

Reality is we rank amongst the worst in Europe due to the scale and volumes involved.
i'm not a big fan of these raw footage videos from Ireland- as the positive message behind veganism always does a better job, but sometimes the cold truth is necessary to share.
