Today I did some detailing...

Bought a pair of Trespass Crossover Gloves today to keep me poor hands warm and dry with all the cold washing, have coated them in Gtechniq's I1 for added protection so will throw up an aul review in a few days to see if they're actually "Waterproof" like they claim!

Personally I don't think I1 is of much use to the likes of gloves or shoes. I've coated several pairs of detailing shoes in it and I think that due to the movement of your foot it "cracks" the bond or something like that.

Yeah but at the same time it's good for soft-tops and the like which are always folding and folded and seats that are being sat in etc and I had the majority of a 500ml bottle lying about anyway :pac:

I'm not saying you shouldn't give it a go, just my experience of it. Maybe I just didn't give it a proper chance or the shoes had a layer of light dirt or something on them. They were afterall normal shoes that were old and degraded to use while washing cars!

Yeah that's true. I threw on a coat straight after getting in the door with them, let them cure for 3-4 hours then put another coat on and now curing overnight, sure I'll see how they go tomorrow anyway!

Finally managed to get out at the weekend! I was determined not to let the cold get to me but probably picked up a hoarse voice as a result.

Sorry for the no before pictures, I keep meaning to take some beforehand. Lets just say it was a long time since I gave the BMW a wash and it must have been a month and a half since I washed the Mondeo.

Hope the cellotape removed without issue - its a little tacky; can be risky on removal, taking clear coat with it, or even with residue staining afterwards.

A very good way to remove sellotape when unsure is to use either a pressure washer or a garden hose with the attachment on "stream". let the water get under it and it will remove itself.

Do people clean the underbelly of the car last?

As it picks up all the heavy muck and dirt it's hard to fully blast off with the pressure washer.

I always start at top and work down then spray as much as I can around underneath and in around wheel arches.

Do it during the rinse down.
I snow foam and during the rinse do the wheels, arches when I get to where the trim line is on my door, then rinse the rest giving a bit of extra attention to the underside of sills etc. Then a quickly blast all over to ensure nothing has splashed up. On to 2BM wash then.

A lot of modern cars now have plastic trim covering most of the undertray so it can be easy enough to clean.

Looking at one of them but to at least rinse underside, was not sure if pressure was decent enough. Videos make it look like a fine mist.

That pic is after the pre-use wash. They came out of the packet and into the washing machine but it's the same way I normally wash them - washing machine on quick wash @ 30 degrees and then into the tumble dryer for 20 minutes.

If you want them to last a good while you should dry them on a line but I've got sh!tloads of them and don't have the time or space to have them on a line so the dryer is perfect. I also wash microfibres together with no normal clothes mixed in to avoid lint.

Haven't posted here before. I don't do outside in the cold so herself's car got manky.

Here she is after treble lancing and mitt wash with the buckets, couldn't find my clay bar so no claying or waxing, going to have to wait until I get the time plus my back was in bits, spent a fair bit of time on the front driver alloy with generic alloy cleaner and then some iron out, still more to be done, want to detar and then clay and wax, do all the lights too as they've started getting cloudy.
This car has never been in a car wash and won't be as long as I have it, selling it soon so want it picture perfect...

Spent couple of hours yesterday on my Civic tourer. Snowfoamed with Blt Hamber autofoam. Left stand for 15 minutes. Washed with two buckets and Blt h shampoo.. Incredimit.. Clayed with Blt Hamber clay.. Two coats of Blt Hamber speed wax.. Wheels dressed with turtlewax wet n black...

Leather cleaned with Dr leather wipes.. Leather treated with gliptone liquid leather...

Finished inside today with chemical guys glass cleaner, sonax Matt black cockpit cleaner.. Chemical guys stripper scent..

Happy enough.. The wax is very similar to colinite but think gives shinier finish..
