Why Garda incompetence is acceptable?

Seriously the people screaming ''Oh who will you call when there is trouble?'' I had around 5 serious incidents where they are required and were called and never even bothered showing up and that is somehow acceptable? One of the accidents was where 5 cars were smashed in our housing estate during the period of 2 days. Guess what they were called, around 11pm and showed up in the morning around 9. But you know what I see when I go out in town? They sit in their vans or cars sometimes 2 of them at the same place sitting in their cars waiting for ''trouble'' while there is trouble happening elsewhere and you get absolutely no help. I just cannot stand people that defend the Gardai. Another thing is we get checkpoints everywhere for tax and insurance but when you actually really need help then forget it.

You're saying there's several involved, but there would be several involved in nearly any investigation, and especially one of such magnitude would have extra members involved. Then, as i said, include the alleged suspect (wrongly in this case, error by Tulsa) and you have to be even more careful of the investigation, so it would take longer than normal.

I think without anything else to prove it, jumping to the conclusion that this was an internal attack on a man who has been proven to be a liar (and also proven to be in the right, i'm not taking sides) is unsubstantiated. You can say you believe what you want, but without proof it's just words.

on RTE news just now- John McGuinness TD being interviewed has said
"The apology delivered by TUSLA today, was handed in to the 80 year old next door neighbour"

This just beggars belief!

Where the hell have the guards unions been and the gardai themselves? We have heard s good as nothing in support of McCabe and yet they're very likely all aware of what's been going on. I'm sad to say it paints them in a very bad light.

John McGuiness also mentioned the garda press officer who is the only one I can think of who did come out in support of McCabe. McGuiness mentioned he should note be reinstated e with full pay in light of the revaluations.
Has he been suspended without pay for his part in supporting the whistle-blower?

How is he seen as a fit patent when hevd allow his own child go into an interview claiming to have been raped vaginally and anally when it was completely false? He presumably fed her the concocted story.

He sounds like someone who shouldn't be in a police force but also a serious threat to the emotional wellbeing of his own children. .

He was suspended for an unrelated allegation, investigated by the Comissioner and her husband.

To use a child abuse claim against McCabe after all the negligence from the Irish state/church over child abuse for decades (and subsequent soft FF/Wood indemnity deal) is beyond sick.

They said on the 9 news that a social worker was sent to his house to see if his children were 'safe'. How harrowing must this have been for his family.

The Gardaí are corrupt. There is a culture of cover-up. Are we going to let them off the hook like we did with the Roman church?

This is just rubbish speculation. McCabe pre-dates the government, and the idea that a Tusla civil servant making a mistake isn't going to bring down the government.

Zapone is definitely under the microscope though. No surprise being an amateur politician.

The Garda needs root and branch serious reform. There seems to be a lot of mismanagement, incompetence, cronyism and political point scoring in the organisation. There are a lot of good Gardai who aren't being fairly promoted on merit due to favouritism and internal politics.

The fact that senior Garda appointments are political appointments is a disgrace.

The abuse of power down the years from Guards was a disgrace. No time for them.

I know there are some decent Gardai out there but to be honest the whole organisation seems like (and now is proven to be) a completely farcical boys club.

Don't think people should underestimate the amount of corruption and lawlessness within the Garda force either. And if i hear the "it's only a tiny minority that are corrupt" line again from the media i'll kick the TV or radio. Let's not forget these guys where willing to break the law en masse to further their financial situation, they basically blackmailed the government and the tax payer further saddling us with debt we can't afford as a people.

Personally speaking i've lost a hell of a lot of respect for them over the last few years and from general musing with other people from my community i can say i'm by far not the only one to hold that view.
