I finally received word back, one day short of a month later, I received 4 phone calls within the space of 30 minutes each one contradicting the last and am none the wiser still. All from the same person

Just waiting to get back to me now to see if our claim is successful. we were extremely lucky and signed the contracts a few days after the announcement and moved in a few days after signing contract. Fingers crossed we get the refund soon, will help pay off smaller debts no end! Easy straightforward process in fairness, barring the few irregular situations people seem to have, but thats going to happen every time when something like this comes up.

Unless they just haven't updated the list of course. I loaded all my info manually on January 13th. But I also only saw that new screen on Monday and completed that as well, they had gotten back to me by Monday evening with a message in My Enquiries saying it would be paid shortly.

They said to her that unless builder is registered we are not entitled to make a claim at all. Between our builder refusing to respond to us(via solicitors) and revenue giving different answers this is driving me mad. Just have to go back to waiting now

youcancallmeal wrote: » So rang revenue and was told we should be able to claim regardless of whether builder is registered. I think the scenario is that we would have to pay the full deposit when signing contracts. Then submit signed contract to revenue and receive the htb relief we are eligible for back in a lump sum as if we were retrospective applicants. To be honest though the guy I was speaking to didn't seem 100% sure on this, he was just like "yeah I don't see why it would be a problem?".

The new build was the last house in the last phase of a development. The house is scheduled to be built shortly and will take six months. I am due to sign my contract and I have 10% deposit in the next 2 weeks. I have already been approved for mortgage. I wanted to see if I could avail of the HTB scheme. The contractor is not on the qualifying list and will not be signing up to the scheme as there are no more new builds to be built. They have requested 10% upfront which I luckily have. However I rang the revenue yesterday advising of my particular situation regarding the contractor not signing up to the scheme and how this would affect my claim for the HTB scheme. Interestingly the revenue did advise me that as long as I am first time buyer with the relevant tax paid over the last four years I will still receive the grant in the form of a lump sum irrespective if the contractor signs up to the scheme or not. But I hope this is something that other people are hearing from the revenue as well. I understand issues are still being ironed but I hope this is the case for similar people who are worrying about the qualifying contractor issue at the moment.

We've put a holding deposit down on a house which is about 14 weeks from being completed, the development was received by NAMA and is being finished in the coming weeks. My partner spoke to a person in revenue who said that they don't see why it wouldn't be eligible but that's just their opinion.... anyone heard anything on this?

louise1985 wrote: » Just a suggestion but I would recommend cancelling and reapplying. I had an issue where I wanted to claim a tax credit and I also applied for the p21 at the same time. This meant I was still at under review after three weeks even though I had received the p21. I cancelled and reapplied and the application went straight through to getting the codes. Might be worth a try.
